How to submit a .doc file

I tried to submit my story through a .doc file and when i tried to preview it, all i saw where symbols. Is this normal?

I've found the same. I always cut and paste. It takes a lot of time and patience to edit and re-format it, but it works.

As far as I can tell, you can't preview an uploaded doc file. I have submitted both my stories by directly uploading the file as opposed to cutting and pasting text, as I needed some formatting you can't get in plain text.

No preview, however, and it is supposed to take a little longer to process the submission.

One option is to save a copy of your story in Plain Text in Word. From there, you can add HTML tags and other special formatting, save it in plain text again, then copy it into the text field on the submissions form. Then preview it to make sure everything came out as you intended.

Thanks! That is good to know. I often use a basic text editor (Kate), and adding HTML tags is quite easy for the simple formatting I use.
