The got a word to share thread got me to thinking. There are a lot of good words out there that we don't use. For me I think it's mainly because I don't see them or think about them.
So here I think we should have some fun with grammar and using words that you don't hear on a regular basis but could help us better describe ourselves.
Like this----
As I venture into the pandemonius maelstrom of general discussion I find myself wading through a nauseating superabundance of half-witted, moronic, nonsensical, annoying and distasteful threads just hoping I stumble across one of the very exiguous threads containing some minute level of intelligence.

By posting here you are volunteering your grammar, spelling and use of words to critique, and don't be afraid to point out mistakes or areas for improvement.
I am sure you guys will have a hay day with my first post. :nana:

Is that really supposed to be "how to speak write" or did you simply mean "how to speak right" (which, by the way, would be "how to speak well").

Either way, though, the title and the start of the thread don't exactly go together...

I thought it was ironic but it doesn't work if you don't giggle.
No need to be a fussbudget.
Of course I did ask for criticisim but that only applies once you get into the thread. :D

Sorry, I guess I didn't realize it was a joke.

I just frequently see people who misuse those words...

It's alright
I'l forgive you if you impress me with a really good word. :D

I'm not impressed by people who throw around huge words. Memorization doesn't show intelligence. If you understand complicated concepts, well, thats much more impressive.

I totaly agree. I hate people who try to sound smart by using big words.
It doesn't mean it can't be fun to throw a few around though.
Are double negatives bad?

They aren't not bad. :)

I wish I had a copy of a shift report that my hubby turned in at work a few months back. The afternoon shift supervisor was always bragging about what an "intellectual" he was, so my husband decided to fuck with him by writing shift reports that used $50 words. It was funny, but a lot of his coworkers needed a dictionary and thesaurus to decipher it. :p

fwiw... one of my favorite words is proffer.

A fascinating word but the point of the thread is to collocate heteroclite words to engender stimulating sentances.

A post specially written for people who like figures of
speech, for the not a few fans of litotes, and those with no small
interest in meiosis, for the infinite millions of hyperbole-lovers, for
those fond of hypallage, and the epithet's golden transfer, for those who
fall willingly into the arms of the metaphor, those who give up the ghost,
bury their heads in the sand and ride roughshod over the mixed metaphor,
and even those of hyperbaton the friends. It will be too, for those who
reprehend the malapropism; who love the wealth of metonymy; for all
friends of rhetoric and syllepsis; and zeugmatists with smiling eyes and
hearts. It will bring a large absence of unsatisfactory malevolence to
periphrastic fans; a wig harm bello to spoonerists; and in no small
measure a not less than splendid greeting to you circumlocutors. The
World adores prosopopeiasts, and the friendly faces of synechdotists, and
can one not make those amorous of anacoluthon understand that if they are
not satisfied by this, what is to happen to them? It will attempt to
really welcome all splitters of infinitives, all who are Romeo and Juliet
to antonomasia, those who drink up similes like sparkling champagne, who
lose nothing compared with comparison heads, self-evident axiomists, all
pithy aphorists, apothegemists, maximiles, theorists, epigrammatists and
even gnomists. And as for the lovers of aposiopesis -- ! It will wish
bienvenu to all classical adherents of euphuism, all metathesistic birds,
golden paranomasiasts covered in guilt, fallacious paralogists, trophists,
anagogists, and anaphorists; to greet, welcome, embrace asyndeton buffs,
while the lovers of ellipsis will be well-met and its followers embraced,
as will be chronic worshippers of catachresis and supporters of anastrophe
the world over.

A discoursive analysis of the aforementioned lexical monstrosity would in all likelyhood render little to no information of any utility whatsoever. ;)

I tend to disagree, although the statement may be overly verbose in it's entirety, it should not be taken mearly on it's apparent excessive verbiage. A more detailed review will divulge an abundance of hitherto unseen stuff. :)

do not fear if you can not read this, that only means that it is a figment of your imagination. yes, quite, a figment of your imagination, broght on by an amalgimation of stress caused by the inability to keep the congnitive level of thought in order to dispher the simple language consisting of numrals and symbols.

quite.

It vexes me staggeringly that I'm able to cognize the above ejaculation of 1337 5p34k.
