Hi, All.
I recently posted my first story and had a comment questioning some of the words I used in the story. I haven't found a way to respond, specifically, to that post? Do I just add another comment, or is there a way to respond to that particular comment? Not that I want to do anything other than clarify the words he or she was commenting on, but I'd like to respond.

Thank you

Just add another comment. However, I wouldn't respond. Also, is it a anon. question, or someone with a name? If it was anon, then really wouldn't reply, but if they have a name, I might consider it. Whether anon or named, the only way the common-tater will see your response, is if they stop back to look. Most won't stop by again.

Thanks, LWullf. I appreciate the response. I thought it was probably better to just let it go, but I didn't want to seem like i was ignoring it, either. It was a named comment, but it was sort of silly.

Thank you.

It's the hallmark of one artistic website I belong to that artists respond to commentary. If the comments are sideways, then the artist usually doesn't respond. Also, how often can you see "Nice a$$!" and think "I should respond to that." Likewise, inane comments there, like, "Nice!" don't deserve long responses if any at all. However, it takes a strong minded artist to respond to dribble all the time, and you can wear yourself out responding daily, but it's really quite nice to see an artist that responds to a well thought out comment.

To that end, if you think the comment on your story is proper, thoughtful, even if contrary, I'd respond. If it is simple, pointless (or "silly") or inciteful, then I wouldn't bother wasting your time or energy responding.

It's your call after that.

Was the comment actually questioning the use or commenting on the use?
You can always add a comment thanking all for their comments. If you feel the total desire you could always send a PM to address the specific question, if the commenters did not leave a name then do not comment at all on it.
You are the writer and the choice of word usage is yours in order to get your point across, if someone missed you point then it is not your fault. If you wish to learn then read others to see their usage of the language.

I've had a look at the comment. I'd provide a simple response clarifying exactly how you've used the terms being quizzed. I reckon the commenter simply isn't familiar with your usage (different country maybe?). Check you've used senescence correctly - either you're right or the commenter is.

I rarely answer comments as most users that make a comment rarely return to see if you answered. I do however call them out when it was really obvious that they didn't even read the story so others know. But basically, I may just thank everyone for their comments.
