How to remove an intrusion on Lit ....

Somehow or other every time I come onto Literotica, I get 'pop-ups' appearing, uninvited in the lower RHS of my screen. Usually a 'Lauren' or a 'Michelle' is calling. Alternatively, someone else want's chat. Being inquisitive, I did make the mistake of following up a few days ago & it is a VERY presistant porn site - almost impossible to disconnect from ... in the end, I think I re-booted & that worked. But, on signing in again a few days later, the nuisance was still there - as it is right now as I type this.

So, some help from a more techie person than moi ... SVP.

I've been here for almost twelve years, and have NEVER had a popup. It's probably not coming from Lit. You have bigger issues to deal with.

Check the following
If you are running a PC I suggest you have a rogue adware/spyware installed. There should be zero advertising associated with Literotica - no pop-ups at all.

You could try any of the following or indeed all of them
Ad-aware
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

Spybot
http://www.safer-networking.org/mirrors/

Malwarebytes
http://www.malwarebytes.org/

the free versions of these will work just fine. After installing the programs and making sure they have the latest updates, if you know how it would be best to run them in Safe Mode. A quick search in Google for "safe mode" "windows 7" or whatever OS you have will tell you how.

If you have a good antivirus installed - not really necessary to leave these installed. There is the potential for their on-going protection to slow your computer down.

Now I have written this you will no doubt see a flood of other similar suggestions - and they will probably be equally relevant.

I agree with the above poster. What you are describing is not from lit.

Odds are you clicked on a personal site or a porn site and have picked up a virus. I would run a scan using whatever virus protection you have and see if that gets rid of it.

If not the only option my not so techy self could offer is a system restore (or a system recall where you "trick" your computer into running the way it was before the virus by resetting the date)

Problem solved!

Many thanks to those that sent me suggestionions .... I ran the free Malware program & that did the trick. BTW, I wasn't suggesting that the problem was a LIT problem at all, I was just mentioning that it somehow got 'triggered' only when I was actually on LIT.

Returning to normal programming .......
