How To Interpret the Sub - RA Activity

Just a simple question, really. I have been using the newly discovered SUBMISSIONS and then RECENT ACTIVITY link to see what's been happening lately. I have over 250 stories and this allows me to see, well, recent activity.

Here's the question. I see readers making me a favorite author, but also see where I am removed as a favorite (broken heart). Am I being removed because there is a limt to the number of writers an author can favorite, or has my writing ticked them off in some way?

I seem to always have more of the former and less of the latter so I'm staying ahead of the curve but would like to find out the true meaning of these alerts.

Thanks in advance for some assistance here.

I'm not sure how much you can really read into it. Speaking from my days as a reader only (I have submitted several stories now), I know I used to favorite stories in a series because that made them easier to find. After the series finished, I would often unfavorite them. I didn't know at the time the authors could see my actions, so it never occurred to me they might think I didn't like their work anymore. It never meant that at all.

Now that I post series of my own, I often see that sort of thing taking place. The broken hearts do look sad, though, don't they? :( Getting them is a bit of an ouch, but that I received the favorite nod in the first place is something I cherish. They liked the story enough to do so. Unfavorite, I think, is more of a practical decision about keeping down the number of stories being followed.

I've read about there being a limit, but haven't encountered it myself.

Thanks for that. Makes sense about the favorite story part.

I realize now in my post that I transposed "author" and "reader". Do you have any insight into the "favorite author" message that I also get? It's nice to be favorited, but then it stings a bit to have that little red heart broken. That was what I was really getting at when I asked if a reader has a limit on the number of authors they can favorite.

I really don't know if there's a limit to the number of stories a reader can favorite. Maybe you could ask this in the Author's Hangout? It might get answered there by someone with more years on Lit, stories posted and experience with the ins and outs. I'm as curious about this as you are! :)

Might be better, yes. Look for a thread there if you're interested.
