Edging is just that finding a way to bring yourself to the edge and backing off before you orgasm, then pausing a bit and starting over.

My record for edging was just short of 3 hours but found that to be too long as my balls hurt for 2 days. Now I only do it for maybe an hour to hour and a half.

I wish this thread and many other thread like it had an answer to the question. What I find is a lot of "what it's like to edge" and "why I like to edge" and "this is what edging means in case you don't even know” - but basically none of “how to edge.”

I'd like to be capable of edging but my arousal just goes away if I don't get off. I can't ride the edge because it slips away in one direction (crossing it) or the other (disappearing).

I mean, I can stop and resume again later, but these hours-long constant-arousal full-and-fuller-erection scenarios are impossible for me.

I can't say I have ever edged for hours either. My wife has edged me for half an hour 40 minutes. Then she won't "let" me cum. And I get her off with my mouth. There are guided porn videos that will help you edge by providing a tempo to follow to help edge. Once you get the idea and have control over your orgasm you can chose what to watch I’ve gone 8 hours of edging before needing to release but I will say the edge is more exciting than the orgasm.
 
Too bad we don't know what @sanjuinmood 's difficulty with doing it is. Most of this advice seems centered around the "get control so you don't come" idea, which isn't informative or useful for people who don't have the P.E. problem. What if his difficulty was about maintaining arousal for a long time? Like this guy.

It’s all about finding your trigger points small breasts, thick thighs, hairless, breeding, etc..: and then keeping that constant arousal going your taste may evolve the longer you go so it’s important to understand what you like and where to find it. There may be dips in erections but the key is to keep aroused.

If you edging with a partner, it's all about communication. If my wife is edging me, I simply tell her when to stop before I go over the point of no return. I control my desire to cum, because I truly love the feeling of being right there but not getting off. I love being horny!

In order to end the edging session, you have to go to the very aroused state, and then you have to keep stimulating beyond that, in order to ejaculate. There is an article on the web from the Arkansas Health Care Access (AHCA) Foundation, "Edging Exercises for Men to Achieve Better Climax Control" that provides a how to guide on edging. To find this, Google "AHCA: Men's Health Guides", and search for "Edging Exercises for Men to Achieve Better Climax Control" on the AHCA website.

I can either do that, in which case it’s not edging, or, I can try to edge, in which case I can’t maintain that state, which also isn’t edging, and I can’t end it according to your instructions.

I think it’s neurological or psychological. My PC muscles are in super shape. If anything, they’re over toned, so I do reverse Kegels, where you relax them instead.
