I want to wipe my account clean and keep things to myself for the time being. How does one go about doing that?

I'm wondering as we all post under pseudonyms how this site isn't "safe" for you. Care to expound?

And there are people who figure out who we are in spite of the "anonymity." There are often enough clues in the stories we write and what we say in our posts. I had one Litster early on who quickly figured out who I was. She claimed that I could never find out her real identity; it took me only three days.

o_O Meaning, the two of you knew each other's real names by the end of this? That's disturbing to think about.

Yes, and we have gotten together. I gave her a tour of my town when she was here for work. There is one (maybe two) people who have called me by my real name here, but they did so in anonymous comments, so I don't know who it may be.

Our stories here are extensions of ourselves, for better and for worse. I only have 3 published works under this account, but I can imagine if I had even 10 it would become obvious who I was (if someone I knew read those stories). Doubly-so if they'd read my non-Lit stuff.

It's not exactly a small world, but every word you write makes it smaller 🫥

Welp, time to go look over my old posts and see what I've leaked.
While it can be negative, I've had nothing but positive outcomes with knowing people from Literotica. I've met with nine others, including one who turned out to be a former student from my sex course (see - there's a clue!). In the old days, there used to be "Litogether" - a convention of sorts of Litsters. I missed them, but heard they were quite interesting. We also used to do a "Secret Santa" for Xmas, so one person, at least, would have to know who everyone else really was so they could receive their gifts.

It's not only fear of discovery, it's also to do with removing yourself from an on-line environment which might not be good for your mental health.

There's many reasons for leaving. Another Lit writer I know, who hasn't been shy about what she posted, has decided to leave and pull everything she's written because real life has gotten in the way of her trying to reply to everyone that gets in touch. She feels an obligation to please everyone, and just can't do that anymore.

Anyway Madeline, sorry to see you go. Hope it all works out.
