As I've told you, you really need to learn more about this. If you don't know the difference between a transvestite and a transsexual, how do you know what you want?

MTF transvestite - dresses like a woman. wig, makeup, clothes, often breast forms. retains the penis.
MTF transsexual - undergoes a complex psychiatric evaluation. lives as a woman for an extended period of time (typically a year). sexual reassignment surgery involves cutting off the penis and building a vagina; breast implants are also common. electrolysis and hormones are used.

This is way oversimplifying it, but hopefully it'll get you on the right track.

Well, first you attend a Junior Transvestite College for about 4 years, then you can go on to get your Master's in Tanvestite Arts from most accreditted universities. Harvard has excellent programs I hear, but it helps if your father was a member of the right sorority.

Actually physically becoiming a woman means:
1)Getting your name changed usually.
2)Having all legal documents changed so that your sex is shown to be female.
3)Letting your muscles atrophy to reduce mannish appearence.
4)Hormone therapy and possibly breat implants to grow breasts. You are likely to gain weight at this stage.
5)Undergo electrolysis unless you want 5 o'clock shadow for the rest of your life.
6)Voice training so you don't sound too husky or like Minnie Mouse.
7)Psychiatric evaluation and reevaluation to get the final vaginoplasy performed. If you have any previously diagnosed mental illness you probably will not be legally allowed to have the surgery. Even if you don't there is still a good chance they'll deny you.
8)You must live as a woman for a period of years first.
9)You'll need a wig if you are balding. If you are not yet bald, removal of the testicles will prevent that.

You will also face job discrimination, medical personnel refering to you as "that thing", many uncomfortable questions from everyone you can possibly imagine, and undergoing this whole process will be very expensive.

Sometimes it's quite a sacrifice to be yourself.

Actually, Sillyman, that's well-put.

Don't forget being sneered at for using the wrong restroom in public, too. I've known of places that have refused to allow transgendered people to use either one.

And you can possibly face arrest for that.

First of all, hey all... been a while since been to Literotica. Nice to see a GLBT forum.

Actually that's not fully accurate Sillyman. (In the U.S.) To even get on HRT (hormones aka mones for short), requires a minimum of 3-4 months of psychotherapy and diagnois of gender identity disorder. Other mental issues or conditions don't mean you can't transitition or have surgeries. Just may take longer since they'll want to make sure those are seperate from GID.

The Real Life Test (living as the gender you see yourself) is usually only a year minimum. Though these days most GRS surgeons seem to have an 18 month waiting list anyway.

Other than that Sillyman's pretty much got it right. Though of course the order is different.

Oh and the difference between transvestite and transsexual ... first of all, the more politically correct term these days is crossdresser, sweetie. But for TV/CD it's all about the sexual kick from it. Whereas transsexual it's about correcting the body to match our minds. So one's a kink, the other's a birth defect. :)

Btw, if you couldn't tell I'm a MTF transsexual. ;)

For what, specifically? Using the wrong restroom? What if you use the bathroom for the gender you're presenting as, but you don't pass very well?

I'm stubborn about this - TV/CD is not necessarily a sexual kink! While TS/TG is a cosmic error, I know plenty of CDs who do it for similar reasons. One of my closest friends cross-dresses from time to time, but not because he gets off on it so much as because he's exploring genderfuck and his feminine side. Transvestism is not always a sexual thing!

I'm glad to have you here! Thanks for posting. :)
