How To: Adult Arts and Crafts

Silicone is a pretty neutral compound. There's no real toxicity associated with it after it is dry. I use the stuff from Home Depot all the time. Its the same thing they use to seal aqauriums. That's what I use it for. If there was any toxicity the fish would notice it before you did in your hiney. Especially if it has a layer of latex over it.
A layer of latex, as in a condom? Or, a layer of liquid latex?

Either one. Dry silicone sealant is very stable. Its not going anywhere and even if it did, your ass is a one way only area under normal circumstances. Once it dries it has the same consistency as latex.

I thought you were going to use it to seal the beads before dipping in latex. Was I wrong? Or were you going to use it as an alternative to latex?

yup, Here is some more info, they say it isnt rated for food use, but it says it is on my tube... and the comment about the fish is well taken

Yes, I'm pretty familiar with silicone. :) I was wondering about the type and safety of the caulk because often products like caulking have pretty caustic additives/other ingredients that could be harmful.

If it's food-safe silicone and holds up like toys, I wouldn't coat it with latex. That would be less sanitary and pretty pointless.

I'll consider silicone for the future, but I'll do the beads, including the cord, with latex for now.

I would only use the clear stuff that says 100 percent silicone, and give it a week or so to make sure it is cured pretty much untill the smell of vinigar goes away.

Great info, thanks, Spyro! :rose: There are some good links on the Gardenweb forum as well, so I'll definitely check into it.

It made me laugh to find that info on a gardening thread... and then what i used it for.

Maybe I'm missing it, but what exactly did you make and use it for?

Ah i just found it amusing that these people were talking about using it to make molds to make stepping stones for the garden, while i was using the same info for making sex toys

Yes, I got the sex toy part, but what kinds of sex toys? In the spirit of the thread, you've gotta share the nature of, and instructions for, said toys, you know! :D

Ha ha nice turn around on that Ericka.

Good info too! A little thing about bleach and bacteria- you would need to soak the cord for about 30-60 minutes to kill, but bleach can take up to 2 hours easily to sanitize (bring back to safe levels) - Boiling is your best option for cleaning and getting rid of the most, if not all, bacteria that could come out of your bum without using any compounds but what affect would this have on the Materials - Latex, Silicone, Nylon Cord...

Ha ha...sorry my Biology major knowledge wouldn't let that one go.

Aside from the anal beads, anyone have any other ideas for DIY sex Toys that follow the thread?

Here are a couple of my silicone experiments, neither of them came out as well as i was hoping, too many nooks and crannies. I made a model of what i wanted with plasticine clay, then made a mold around it with plaster, finally filling it with the mixture of silicone, and acrilic paint. It didnt flow into the mold as well as i had hoped.
I did put a steel rod in the blue one to make it bend like that. It is poseable lol

I moved on to makeing the copy of me before i got this process down

What I am talking about isn't really a "caulk" per se, but rather an adhesive. Its fairly rubbery after it cures. It comes in a toothpaste type tube at Home Depot. They also make a caulk that they use for waterproofing, such as around sky lights. Not sure about that.

HUH??? That's a new one on me.

Here is a link on sanitizing using bleach. They recommend 1-2 minutes depending on the concentration of the bleach.

http://www.dhr.state.md.us/cca/license/resource/general.pdf#search='bleach%20sanitizer'

I was a microbiology major and bleach is used all the time as a quick surface cleaner. Almost any plastic left in bleach for hours would turn into mush. Think in terms of what the contact time in a washing machine is. 15 min. max? and that's a pretty dilute solution considering the total volume of water in the washer.

OK, my turn to not let that one go. BTW, later in life I became a chemist and worked with oxidizer compounds like bleach. Most bacteria found in the rectum do not survive for long in a dry, relatively cool environment like that outside the body anyway. They will usually die on their own within a few hours. The time frame is greatly accelerated in a harsh environment like a bleach solution.

Corset: Just going on what I have learned. The 1-2 minutes kills most, but the 2 hour time I believe was the time (now that I think of it) for Bleach to disinfect (kill to the point of sterility - not counting viruses or anylittle anomalies)...Microbio was never my strong suit...I'll stick to Mammalogy, and general bio. And please stick around, your Chemistry knowledge will really help when discussing any random compounds people might use. Thanks for your help so far.

Spyro: Just thought of another application....not sexual....but the blue one you have, the handle looks like a bit of a human brain. Might need to make a brain mold for a diagram.

Those are awesome! I don't have time to get into mold-making and such, but perhaps that'll be my next endeavor. :D

There's a couple that shows up at a swinger party we go to every now and then that does body molds. When they are done they are like a piece of art, suitable to be hung on the wall. As a matter of fact, I think a few of our friends do have them hanging on the wall. The pussy molds were always my favorite. :)

In reality there is no such thing as completely sterile. As soon as you rinse it off in tap water its going to be contaminated again. Anyone want to guess how many bacteria are in chlorinated tap water? Never mind, you probably don't want to know. To be honest though, few if any of these bacteria are disease causing, at least theoretically.

On the page from the link spyro gave, silicone life casting products from Smooth-On were mentioned. Pussies, cocks, and toys would be very cool, and I'm also going to remember it when baby-time rolls around. I've seen pregnant torso casts, but silicone would be neat, too.

No more bacteria discussion!!! We keep everything clean, but you two are starting to freak me out!

OK, OK, OK! I promise. The topic is dead.

And if it makes you feel any better you are much more likely to get something from not washing your hands before eating than from your sex toy if you take common sence precautions.

The latex in the "toothpaste tube" is the same stuff as the 100% silicone caulk. It is great stuff as an adhesive because it will stick to ANYTHING, unless you coat it in vasoline or wax. As something to make toys out of it is hard to work with because it is thick and so damn sticky. Plus the problem about making it too thick and it not curing... major bummer when that happens.

Making the mold was quick and easy, it was making a smooth casting in the mold that hasnt been easy.

Any luck with the beads?
Well, I think they came out quite well, but I seemed to have misplaced them during the holiday rush, so we haven't had a chance to try them out yet! Organization is on the agenda this week, so I'll report back when they've been found and tested. :D
