I write about politics so I know about 2/3 of eligible adults are registered to vote. About half of those registered cast ballots for president. That makes 1/3.

The winning candidate gets about 50 percent of the popular vote. That leaves us with 1/6. The president enters office with about 17 percent of American adults voting for him. Nice mandate!

I believe that label for the Cowboys came about shortly after they sold 10 years broadcast rights to all of their games to AFN (Armed Forces Network) for $1. This was during the Vietnam War, circa 1967 or so.

At least that label was being used during the AFN broadcasts (both radio and TV) in 1969 and 1970 when I was in SEA but not at home on the network broadcasts.
