How old do you believe the Earth is.......

Well, I'm twenty three and 11 days old, so......

Twenty three years and 11 days old.

Seven years. More than that, and the earth and everything on it had a seperate molecular structure. It may have still been Earth-like, but it wouldn't be the same as the Earth right now.

Gosh, I was taught never to ask a lady her age............

I think it's actually irrelevent to my life how old the earth is. When I die I'll either get the answer deilvered to me on a silver platter, or I will no longer exsit. I'm content to wait til then and ponder the more interesting and immediate questions....

Where are my car keys? Why is my daughter making only one buck less than me when I have 12 years expeience? Will I ever get to go to Italy?

Shallow of me, I know.

I believe in the theory of evolution, and the physical sciences that describe an earth that is billions of years old. But many creation scientists interpret the Genesis account of creation as requiring an earth that is only 6,000 to 10,000 years of age. There are numerous indicators that the earth was in existence billions of years ago.

However, these indicators all assume that various processes like the speed of light, nuclear decay, etc. happen today as they have in the past. Because no human before 2,000 BCE was able to observe, measure, and record these processes, it is impossible to prove that the earth is billions of years old.

That being said, I will still take the word of the scientific community that ascribes to the Earth being nearly 4.5 billion years old.

THere is of course the idea that God created the universe as a going concern, and that Earth was created appearing to have been aged to that state. Of course, there is no reason to say that it couldn't have been created five minutes ago under that logic.

I subscribe to the evolutionary theory myself so I can't disagree with you. (but then again I'm also a video gamer much like many of those scientists.) :)

If there is a God, maybe the reason this world is in such a shitty state lately is because he is playing pac-man.

Carl Sagan said it best...

Billlllions, and billlllions.....

It's acceptable to me, and it should be acceptable to everyone else, unless you're a taliban in training somewhere.
1.8/2.7/4.4 billion years, is all pretty cut and dry.

There is a Goddess, and if I know her as well as I think I do, she's out bowling at the moment.

Free will through creationism or evolution. Nah, we're doing it to ourselves.

Predestination through evolution and chaos.

Still sounds like free will to me. That chaos theory is really confusing, though.

It's just a giant fucking math problem. If you can comprehend it, it seems like the most ordered thing out there, but if you don't, it's so much gibberish.

The Earth is still forming. It hasn't begun yet.

Then where did the trees in my yard come from......

I would say shes still young as far as infinity is concerened but to say it hasnt begun yet is wrong.

The earth is 4.6 billion ybp (year before present) old.

The first single cell molecule is 3.5 billion ybp old...

the organization of mulitcells is 1.4- 1.2 billion ybp old...

the evolution of cells molecules as we know them is 500 million
ybp...these cells are the present function cells of today...

I just finished this study in cells for Biology...

Thanks for allowing me to impart to you this most recent knowledge gained...Not bad for a 42 yr old returning to school after 20+ yrs...

about 1 second

reality is destroyed and recreated every second ... sheesh don't you know anything :)

2000000 billion years old, because they told me that on tv, and then it must be true :p
