How much do you pay for car insurance?

When I lived in SC I paid 700 a year for full coverage on my 98 Taurus.

I move up here to NJ and its 1100 for 6 months. I almost died at that amount. 2200 a year for it is stupid.

As I just looked at my bill that was due YESTERDAY! I realized that not only do I have to pay the $25 cash to go through Aircare (don't ask...some stupid provincial make money scam) but I will be paying $1408 for the next year to cover my 2001 GMC Safari van. Is that alot or is that comparable to what you pay?
But that is in Canuckian dollars - that is about $50 US. ;)

Seriously, I pay about $400 US a year for my car (no comp or collision, just liability, etc.) and about the same for my bike. I could probably get it down to about $300 each if I shopped around.

I imagine since your van is almost new that it is financed and you are therefore paying for coll/comp too. For BC that sounds about right as I hear the rates are somewhat higher there - I know a guy who pays over $1k Canuckian for his bike insurance, for a bike similar to mine, in your area.

You, my dear, are gonna get smacked the next time I see you!:p
Promises, promises! ;)

And, no the van was bought with cash...that is only for liability, collision...and ummm...something else...
Probably comprehensive. Collison/comprehensive just about doubles what you would otherwise pay, and from what I hear the rates are very high near Vancouver BC due to a high accident rate there. Some say due to the large immigrant Asian population. While that may seem racist to some, from what I understand from people who live in some Asian countries, they take a whole different view of what is safe driving than North Americans do.

$1000/year.. full coverage on 2002 Nissan Maxima, 1993 Toyota 4 x 4 Pickup, 1986 Suzuki Samauri. Our renters insurance is included in that also. (renters insurance is on our household goods incase they aren't covered under moms house insurance)

I'm paying $835 for a 1995 Grand Am. Big whoop...got a $20 discount for no claims. Insurance in this part of the world is insane. The insurance industry claims that whiplash claims and the like are up so insurance is up across the board. Some people had 400% increases (in the most extreme) while other saw their insurance double. My mother drives the same car and pays close to $2000 with no accidents.

We pay $589 US every 6 months for vehicle insurance; fire, earthquake, water damage insurance; some sort of landlord liability stuff; and renters insurance.

The joys of cheapness.

The honest answer is I don't know. I just write the check every six months. If I had to guess, I think it about $700 per year for a 2000 Chrysler 300M. But I have high coverages on my auto insurance and then an umbrella policy on top of that to protect me in the case of a lawsuit after any bad accident.

I pay too much too

Another B.C.er here. I payed 930$ on a 91 Eagle Talon and that is with the 40% discount too. Insurance is high here in B.C. Even then 1400$ just for a mini van seems steep especially if you factor in the 40% discount. Makes you want to start riding a bike :D .

No...that is with an over 5 year top of the chart 40% discount.

Don't forget that this is BC.

I didn't know they made Chevy Suburbans before Christ. I thought they came somtime after suburbia. General Motors is not usually behind the curve, but they obviously nailed this one.

Regarding the insurance, that sounds expensive, tho. Maybe you should stop chasing your family around with that monster. ;) I think your lawn may need re-sodding, too, along with the golf course from your activities last week.

You are driven.

Whoa, for that little silver "soccer mom" van? $1408? Seems excessive, I pay less than that for my wifes BMW and my Silverado. We do pay $19.50 for each, every two years, for what's called E Check, our form of Aircare.

Of course that is in Canadian money, isn't it?:D

Re: Re: How much do you pay for car insurance?
