Okay, I appreciate that this is likely to be a 'how long is a peice of string' type question but I'm curious, having just uploaded my first story.

Roughly speeking, how many stories get uploaded in a week and how many are rejected / accepted?

Dear KF,
Roughly speaking:
Quite a few
Some/lots.
Helpfully, MG

Hi. This is the most common repeato question asked by new subs (not the d/s kind).

My first took over a week, but I learned that each time I went in to fix something (typos that only get caught after the fact) it put my submission back to the end of the cyber queue.

Otherwise, depending on the queue for the day or week, it can take a few days or a week or so.

I know your pain. ;)

Ummm.......

Dear Perdita,
Your answer above was very cogent and helpful to the newcomer. I couldn't help but notice, though, that it was not an answer to the question he asked. I know: Picky, picky.

You're right again, Ms. Quibble. I was presumptuous and figured the subtext had something to do with a new sub's anxiety over getting posted.

Sorry, Perdita :(

Mais, non.......

Dear Perdita,
Don't apoligize, dear. It was a well written, insightful, and thoughtful answer you gave.

Like an essay exam in college. If you have absolutely no idea about a certain question, give an exhaustive answer to a question of your own. Who knows, the grader might be impressed. At least it shows that you know something.

Merci beaucoups,

Mlle. M.
I keep forgetting a wise Lit. friend's advice to "never apologize".

Unrepentantly,
Perdita

p.s. Welcome Karl, and get used to us. Please?

Submisison Counts

Counting only stories (and not poetry), I would guess it is about 40-80 per day. I went and looked at the New Stories list. I counte 56 for July 5.

Now that may be a slow day because of the Independence Day holiday in the U.S., or it may be at the top end (too many people with too much time on their hands, thinking and doing and writing about deviant thoughts).

Watching the New Stories list for a while should give you a more accurate answer, if you are so inclined.

As far as rejections go, I have no idea. No statistics on that.

Thanks for that. I've not had a story rejected but I've just submitted my first story for approval today and it got me wondering just how much work the people who run this system must do. A week's turn around would be amazing for the number of stories that must be submitted here.

I mean, I imagine it must be one of those jobs where you go through a lot of the same thing again and again to find that occasional gem. It must be a real labour of love.
