I'm curious to know, how many writers have reached a million views? just curious....

Jen

I have, although that is across over 300 stories, some of which have been pulled from the site in order to be rewritten for submission to pay sites.

Just did a count.

My stories, not including my poetry, total 2,383,408 views.

Og

Edited for PS: That doesn't include my works as jeanne_d_artois

Not me. Last time I did a check I had about 270,000 total.

And 20% of those are one story. Sure wish I knew how I did that. ;)

Quantity, not quality

I have nearly 150 stories posted on Literotica as me and as jeanne.

Even a few thousand reads on each story soon passes a million views.

IF I wrote more Incest I'd have many more views. My few incest stories contribute disproportionately to the total.

My first stories were posted in 2002. Even my oldest stories still attract 509 or so views a month.

Is each view a read? If not, how many are reads?

My contest stories attract more reads during the contest than a non-contest story does in a year.

Whether 2.3 million views means anything? Perhaps it shows Og's stamina as a writer and his persistence/stupidity/brazenness in leaving all his posted work visible.

Og (There must be many people out there with far more views than me)

About 800k for me if you take both Ducky and Dolly.

But most of mine are MC which has a fairly small following compared to the more mainstream smut.

I'm flirting with 1,000,000. If I actually posted anything new I'd probably get there faster :)

As of the end of September I had 2,155,317 views on 48 stories (although 10 of the stories and their corresponding 193,000 views have been removed from the site).

5 stories have over 100,000 views but 2 have less than 5,000. The views a story will get are simply impossible to predict.

But what is a view? Has anyone ever received a definition?

Our of curiosity, after I saw this thread and read the posts, I totaled mine. I have 167 stories, totaling 5,373,337 views. I didn't bother to count views on poems, because the total would be quite low.

A view is just somebody clicking onto a story. It doesn't mean the person has read the story. And sometimes two or more persons read a story simultaneously. Sometimes a story gets copied or forwarded and read by people who are not counted as views. In other words, the totals doesn't mean much.

I don't have much submitted, so...

Stories:
The Tease - 6,759

Poems:
A Mother's Daughter - 298
Anti - 163
Don't Worry, I Saw You - 342
From Gasping to Grasping - 335
Hephaestus and Aphrodite - 108
Hester Prynne - 483
Love Story in Tradition - 423
Precious Life - 888
Queens of Silent Suffering - 163
Suburbia - 426
Well Read - 119

And all together... 10507 :D

A little over 129,600 on 39 stories. I might hit a million in a decade or so.

Of course, several of them are really long, so if each page counts as a view, that knocks it down by factors.

All my stuff is in humor, horror, and sci-fi too, and those aren't exactly Lit hot spots. I'm sure if I took some of them and put them out in other cats ( Casting, Lesbian - Ebon, Taboo - etc. ) they would have more views.

216,796 views...but I don't have all that many stories up, either.

.
The big thing I've wondered is if search engines like google count as "views" when they cache webpages. That could really drive up the number.

It was me.

(You know how I love your work.)

My best for a single submission is a little over 203,000 for Montana Summer Ch. 1. The total for the Montana Summer series Ch 1 to 12 is 1,337,885. I didnt bother to add up my other stories.

Sitting at 429,000 even for my first 5 stories. Although I agree with Box. There are a lot of variables that don't get taken into account (people starting, then coming back later, ones who read it a second time, etc...). I'm sure that doesn't mean anywhere near that many people have read my work. Doesn't matter, I'm pretty happy with where I'm at. Now if I could just finish the two I've been on forever...:(

Okay, those are views and not confirmed reads over 75 submissions.

These people really have far too much time on their hands! Hmmm, but where do I find the time to write this crap?

Now, if there was a way to convert the views to cash... :D
