How many votes?

I've been here a while, have a bit of a fan base and my last few stories tanked.

Scores, votes and comments seem to have gone way down since Lit made changes to the voting system.

So what happened to you seems to have been the norm.

A welcome  for the little newbie from the good little witch.

It varies, depending on the category and such. Entering contests is a good way to get more votes.

One of your stories was in the Letters category - a dead zone.

And what Rob said seems to be true - scores votes and comments are all down on my stuff lately too.

Scores and public comments are down on average in my case since the new voting element, but my average number of votes is actually going up. Email comments seem pretty much on a level with before the change.

Digging back through the semi-bloggish updates page of my website, it looks like it took me a little over two months of regular posting before my stories started breaking the 10 vote barrier on a regular basis. That was with at least weekly posting of a new story, and most of them were chapters of the same tales ( which usually brought people back to the first chapter if the new chapters caught someone's eye )

It takes a while to build up a regular readership, and Cats like Letters and Transcripts have a low readership.

Nothing to worry about. Just keep writing and posting. The people who've already come to like your work will keep coming back. They'll recommend you to people they talk to, add you to their favorites, etc. Word will get around, and you'll see your vote averages go up :D

I concur with Dark. Since the change in voting, my vote scores have dropped, but the numbers of votes have risen slightly. It's certainly harder to gain the elusive H these days. But that at least makes it something more meaningful. In theory...

Interesting, but not too surprising that scores have dropped with the new voting system. It's certainly easier to vote, so you're probably getting more "Liked it, but didn't love it" 3s and 4s. I'll have to see if my older stories have dropped any.

I'll echo that if you're pulling votes in the double digits in Letters and Transcripts, you're doing quite well. Romance is usually a fairly heavily tread category, but your story looks somewhat niche in its nature.

Posting new stories can sometimes draw attention to your older ones, especially if it is well recieved. Unfortunately, Literotica is sometimes a little like Hollywood: stories that neatly fit within an established genre often do better than quirkier tales. There's an old classic thread somewhere where someone did quick parodies of the various categories that was very spot-on.
