How many views per day to expect?

I'm new here and recently submitted two stories. Just amazing to me that I have over 3000 views per story in such a short time. Fellow authors, is this pretty common? I'm just trying to get a feel for how active this web site is. My stories are femdom, and while I like that sort of plot, I wasn't sure if that is a real popular genre here.

No matter, as a writer who had some erotic short stories, which I see as being tough to sell in print, I am glad to have found a place to post them where they can be enjoyed by others.

Probably pretty common. Genre, tag-lines, day of the week posted (though stats show that's less an effect than Lit lore allows,) are just some of the factors.

Put naughty words in your 'ad' and you'll see views jump, even if it's chapter 5 of a story! However, when it doesn't live up to expectations, watch your score sink!

With me, the first two days, when it sits on the easy-to-get-to New List, receive the most number of views. The next few days are usually good, but once it falls off the New List, there's a sharp drop-off in views even when it sits on the first page of its genre 30-day Top List.

You usually get a lot of traffic when it's on the New list. Then readers check out your other stuff, then pervs do searches. Don't know about the daily average, though.

My stories range from about 3000 to 80,000 views. Views depend on the category as well at your title and description. Then you have to entertain them, of course.

The number of views doesn't necessarily mean reads...they may read the first paragraph and decide that the story isn't for them and leave.

Personally, I tend to ignore that number as it really doesn't mean much. The number of comments and votes are what really count.

ETA: Just checked my newest has posted also...first comment was '.' from you know who. Who would take the time to do that? Even it they didn't like the story? WTF?

When the first anonymous people jump in and read your story,
the average is about 3,000 reads per day.

Now, as your story fades away because it has been here for
a while, then the reads drop off.

Yes, 3,000 reads in one day is normal.

That does not mean they like the content however. It means
the name of the story interested them.

If the story title is suggestive and interesting, then people
will "bite" on it.

If you have a lame title like "My sister and I just had sex", then
people won't flock to it.

But if you have a title like "I Got My Hot Sister Drunk And She
Wants To Suck My Cock!"

Wait a minute... The nurses are coming over to my bed...

No! Please! I don't want another shot! Leave me alone...

On the other hand, Over the Sink, one of my more popular stories, has 882146 views.

According to audited statistics I was recently given access to by the palace staff the average LITEROTICA story receives the following number of VIEWS:

Day 1 – 2713
Day 2 – 1293
Day 3 – 567

Of course these are relatively useless figures because of the huge variance between categories. Unfortunately you didn’t mention what categories your stories were submitted under so I can’t provide those numbers for you.

Hi, Chris, and welcome to Literotica and to the AH. The number of views a new story gets depends mostly on the category. Anal and Incest are probably the most popular, and will get many more than 3,000 views per days when they are new. There are other categories that won't get than many in a year.

The size of an author's fan base and the name and description of the story also contribute, but not as much as the category.

My least read story is Brobdingnag Ch.06 and Last with 2225 views.

My most read story is Virgin's Sister with 267,600 views.

Brobdingnag Ch.06 is written in the style of Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels. Only those who liked chapters 1 to 5 are going to open chapter 6.

Virgin's Sister is in the Incest category. The cleverest thing about the story is the title.

Telling us the names of your stories is spam?

I never think other writers letting me know how to get to their stories is spam ... maybe a little self-promotion, but nothing wrong with that, is there?
