I saw an interesting show on Berman & Berman where they found that many women lie about how many sexual partners they have had. Women under report their actual figures, probably because society looks upon them as sluts if they have too many men. Men are looked on as studs and EXPECTED to have more "Conquests" than women. But, shouldn't it be rather equal?

Their survey showed Women lie, except when they were placed on a lie detector; and then the men and women's figures were about the same. Among college students, it was about 4 partners each for the men and women. (Before the lie detector, women reported less than 3 each.)

So, how many partners have YOU had?
It would be nice to know an age group too, as older people might have had more, just by the passing of time.

I'm 34, and have always been a "serial monogamist" - I've never "played the field".

I've only had five or six sexual partners (depending on what you consider to be "sex") but they have all been wonderful, beautiful, and totally "sexual" women.

Would you mind clarifying what you mean by "sexual partners?" I hate to get all Bill Clinton on you, but that is a problem with a lot of these surveys. They're not clear enough about what they mean. It would definitely make a difference in my answer.

For intercourse, six men I think (between the ages of 16 and 19), and one woman that I'd qualify as "sex" (at 23).

Well, it means different thing to different people. I am aware that young people nowadays are doing oral and don't consider it "SEX". But, I'm sure their parents DO! So, if you think it is sex, it probably IS. And if you don't consider it sex, but most people would, then I would consider it to be sex.

I believe the B&B survey was dealing with sexual intercourse.
But for Lit purposes, I would consider MM, FF, oral, anal, 69, and any similar act that goes beyond foreplay.

So, would it make a big difference in how you respond? If so, simply explain why. It would be an interesting read, I'm sure.

I wanted to include age groups too, but there is no way to do both in the polls we have here. The 4 partners in their survey were college kids. I have had many more than 4, but I was singe until I was 42, and liked to dance and date different women when I was younger. (Not now though - things change)

The preliminary results are very interesting already. I can't wait to see how it pans out with more input!

After a few hours of reflection I arrived at the figure of over eighty women...I think it was eighty four.

Now before the shit storm starts I am forty eight and was sexually active in the late sixties and seventies when anything could be cured with a shot and some pills!

And I'm twelve and one half years into my fourth marriage.

Including oral and/or heavy manual is going to give you an entirely different set of results I bet. Frankly, I consider those foreplay activities, and I'd have a hard time remembering how many I've engaged in them with. So yes, it'd make a big difference because I'd be guessing.

I have had quite a few opportunities having been in management for a number of years. None were "consummated" but several got slightly more than verbal.

Nope, not a lot of playing, but it was 6 to 9 years ago! I agree there are always exceptions to the intercourse standard, but if you're doing a comparison with the study on the show, you have to use similar definitions for accuracy.

I can't think of a reason I'd lie about my number, but I can see where people who are less open or ashamed for whatever reason would.

Erika, the poll here doesn't have to mirror the B&B poll.
They only interviewed college age kids. Here, we have all ages, and people who might be more inclined to be more interested in sex. I found it interesting that women would lie to protect their integrity and virtue. Here, we can vote anonomously so it would be the same as them using their lie detector to get at the true figures.
And the figures are interesting. Check them out.
