I think I heard it somewhere, but I don't remember. Lush Stories boasts about having nearly 58,000, which is much less than this one.

When I get a "favorites" nod from somebody, I look at their profile. There are people who have read dozens or hundreds of stories. It must be a hobby for some of them.

The site content page lists the number of stories in each category. The total as of a few minutes ago was 464559 -- almost a half million.

I've never checked the total numbers. It's pretty amazing that so many people have thought up nearly 500k different ways to tell the same basic story.

xxx, wanna fuck?

Where xxx = object of choice.

There. No more reason to write ;).

That's a cliff hanger. You can't leave the question unanswered.

The readers demand to know if xxx agreed. Agreement or not, just how did their body fluids commingle?

Ch.123

As the plane hurtled towards the ground, Angelina turned to Jeremy and asked, "Is this the end?"

Jeremy turned to her and said, "This is Lit. You know damn well they'll ask for a sequel."

Ch 124...now stranded on an Island Angela and Jeremy fuck on the sand! Yes the sand! Its totally different from the prior 123 sex scenes....cause sand!

CH 125 Angelina catches Jeremy fucking a hole in a coconut and it turns her on so she puts it between her legs and now its a threesome..(and on sand)

Seriously a lot of stories here just go on and on and if the writer can manage to further the plot a little with each one, that's great, its still a story. But most are little more than "This time Alan and Jane do it in the pool" or adding more characters to make bigger orgies.

The combination of readers always saying more no matter what, and the stat/top list advantages chapter stories have make it inevitable.

I think its TX Rad who mentioned he had a story where the man characters died...and people were asking for a sequel:confused:

That's the trick take the same thing that's been written 10,000 times and make it interesting and "yours'

I was involved in a discussion with a few authors about how most dad/daughter stories are just lust driven and predictable and how it would be difficult to write something that would shock that crowd-but still be a good viable story, something different so to speak.

I took that challenge, and wrote "That Damned Red Dress."

Mission accomplished and despite the depressing wreck most of the story was the comments were good, including many calling out the balls to go that route and saying not sure if they liked it but good job. Score was far better than I expected.

So even though I know you're joking, I'm putting that out there for newer writers to know you can always give the reader something new, just have to work at it and stretch that muse.

Yes, it was a bit of tongue in clitoris...

Like a lot of writers here, I was “You know, I think I can write something better.” I’m still amazed that my “first time” story is in the top 250 of all time. It’s currently 239, but still...

There's plenty of repetition here, but there's also a great deal of creativity and novelty. Erotica encompasses an almost limitless number of sub-categories, sexual preferences, types of relationships, etc. It's far more elastic and broad-ranging than, say, standard romance, or the crime-detective genre. Sex itself is hard to describe in novel ways, but the situations leading to the sex present an almost infinite range of possibilities, and I've greatly enjoyed the variety of whacky, creative scenarios dreamed up by other writers. As for my own stories, the creative impetus fluxes from story to story. Sometimes I'm headed into what I think are uncharted waters. Other times I'm just trying to write something familiar in my own distinctive way. I'm happy with it either way.

An interesting thing about this site is how quickly it attracted writers and took off. There are plenty of very good stories from the early years of the site. If you figure there are about 459,000 stories and they've been published every single day for about 21 years, that's around 69 stories per day, every day, for 21 years. That's a lot of content.

I wonder who is the most prolific reader is of all this. Some people read hundreds of stories but they couldn't keep up with it.

I reminded of a story - probably apocryphal - of a guy who wrote to the New York Times and said he read every article in every issue. When they checked on him, they found that he was in prison - or, in other versions, a mental hospital.

I've wondered that too. I've been reading stories here since at least 2004, maybe earlier, but if some of the readers' favorites lists are any kind of indication there are many very compulsive readers on this site whose reading lists are far longer than mine.

I'm guessing Laurel?
Though, I've often wondered if she's able to read for enjoyment any more, or if the stories have become just a job.
I certainly hope the latter isn't the case. Just the possibility of it makes me sad to think about.

And along those lines, I've heard of an "E" mark that she sometimes gives for exceptional stories.(?)
I don't know if that's true or not, but if it is, I wonder when she last gave one out.
That might give an indication of whether she's still able to read for enjoyment, anymore. Again, I sure hope so.

CH 126...Back in the satellite operations center in Dahlgren, Virginia, agent Jimmy Murdock tries to hide his secret obsession from his coworkers. He's been watching Jeremy and Angelina since CH124. He knows he should send someone to rescue them. Maybe after CH 127, he tells himself. Maybe...

Yes, Editor's Choice. See here, under 'What do the colored icons beside stories mean?': Literotica FAQ

I've never received one :( Probably deservedly so :D

I don't know how many or the last one. One of the regulars here has to have been a recipient at some point.

She used to give them out fairly regularly. Between 2006 and 2011, I received eleven in my sr71plt account. They've become rare in recent years, though. Only three have been given out in the last year. In 2006, I'd received four just myself. They are still given, though, the last one just a month ago, for Trionyx54's "Quarantine Fever":

I wonder why she doesn't delegate some of that to others. She probably doesn't want to pay them, but maybe she could convince them to be unpaid "interns" for the experience. (I'm not sure that's the kind of experience most employers are looking for.)

This thread made me think about how some writers always seem to go out of their way to make posts about their own stories in other peoples threads.

Makes me wonder who many topics in here does not have one of them show up and try to do some self advertizing, usually it seems to be attempted to make it "relevant" to the topic, but it does look a bit silly when it happens in almost every thread by the same few people.

Anyone else noticed this?

Yes. I do it. I want people to read my stories and the AH is full of people whose opinions I usually appreciate.

My range of stories is such that making it appropraite isn't difficult.
