I'm talking cities with at least a population over 100,000

Mine are:

Indianapolis, IN
Chicago, IL
Atlanta, GA
St. Louis, MO
Louisville, KY
Columbus, OH
Cincinatti, OH
Dayton, OH
Lexington, KY
Ft. Wayne, IN
Knoxville, TN
Chatanooga, TN
Gary, IN
Joliet, IL

This is a dream of mine to go to as many cities as possible.

I have a fascination with skylines of cities, just recently I have been taking pictures of these skylines, and when I get older I'm going to make a scrapbook.

So does anyone else share this interest?

Many Many Many

I have lost count... there are only 5 states I have not been to. Out of the 45 states and several provinces in Canada... I have been to just about every place over 100,000 people...

Most of them.

I have to tell you something, though -- when your first city is Manhattan, the others don't really seem to count as "Big cities". When I was 20 I left the Northeast for the first time on a tour of show, and was astonished at how puny other skylines looked. Except for Chicago most cities had what seeemed to be a nest of big buildings all clustered together, and then some houses surrounded by highways. Nothing like Manhattan's skyline, which I had taken for granted as what a typcial cityscape was supposed to look like.

Since then I've come to appreciate other cities, of course, but I still haven't seen another skyline that impresses me as much as Manhattan's. Chicago's is nice, not just because it's big, but because it's distinctive. LA's downtown skyline feautres many very tall buildings, but there's nothing there that screams "LA". (For that you have to look at smaller buildings and the Hollywood sign.)

I understand Seattle's skyline is distincitve, but I've never been there.

I've also been to most of them and I still haven't found one that I would consider relocating to. I think I'll be a Chicagoan for life.

NYC
Jersey City
Newark
Philadelphia
Baltimore
DC
Miami
London
Manchester
Newcastle
Edinborough
Paris
Florence
Madrid
Seville
Prague
Brno
Bratislava
Vienna
Amsterdam
Brussells

I think that might be it, I may have missed one or two. Am not counting Detroit, Atlanta, Chicago or any of the others I only slept overnight in because of cancelled flights.

I've honestly lost count... a partial list, off the top of my head.

New York
Chicago
LA
Boston
San Francisco
Minneapolis
Atlanta
London
Mexico City
Toronto
Quebec
Montreal
Albany
Dallas
Austin
Phoenix
Boulder
Orlando
Fort Lauderdale
Washington DC
Raleigh
Buffalo

I don't know - maybe these aren't all major cities... whatever... there's a lot more but I'm tired of trying to think of them...

Here, this might help. It's the Census Bureaus listing of the all US Cities with populations over 100,000 (239 of 'em).

(Sorry for not tidying up the table, to big of a pain in the ass, lol)

Sydney
Melbourne
Brisbane
Perth
Adelaide
Vancouver
Seattle
Honolulu (not sure of the pop, but it might fit in)
Kuala Lumpur
London
Machester
Paris
Duesseldorf
Frankfurt
Singapore

Here's a link to a page that has a zip file you can download with a listing of the 3000+ world cities with populations over 100,000

Link

I count 95 on Lasher's list that I've been too. Then add a handful of cities in Canada, Mexico and the UK and I'm easily over 100...

somethings wrong with the definition of big/major city if cape coral, fl come up. we should redifne this to mean major metropolitan areas. with urban sprawl becoming more prevelant cities are losing their luster to "metro area"

Here in the US...

San Diego
Los Angeles
Atlanta
Greensboro
Winston-Salem
Houston
Phoenix
Oklahoma city
New York
Miami
Ft Lauderdale
Vegas

Many cities overseas.

Let's see

Birmingham
Atlanta
Chicago
Nashville
Chatanooga
Philadelphia

If a major city is anywhere with a population over 100,000 I've probably been in a few hundred...

By my definition, that's a small city...

I found 121 cities on Lasher's list that I've been to... not just through.

Outside the U.S., the list would include most of the major cities in Canada, Central and South America and many of the major cities in southern and western Europe. Oh, and I lived in San Juan, PR for a few years and traveled all around the Lesser and Greater Antilles, but I'm not sure many of those cities meet the 100K requirement.

I've never been to eastern Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa or the south Pacific.

For me, the travel was almost always work related.

Some of the cities I MUST go to are:

New York City
Las Vegas
Phoenix
Miami
Washington D.C.
London
