That depends.

It can take as long as ten days, if there's a contest on and the story isn't entered in the contest. Or it can be next day, if there's a contest on and the story is entered in the contest. Normally five to seven days.

The quickest way to make sure a story goes up is to format it yourself then paste the formatted text into the box on the submissions page.

Don't forget that your first one typically take a day or two longer. Odds are that the first offering gets extra scrutiny, which drops off as you prove that you take some time to edit, and aren't trying to sneak something through.

I'm actually down to 3-5 days for approval -- faster for edits. Those are going through in 2-4 days.

Welcome to the AH. Everybody ALWAYS forgets to mention the tradition of posting a picture of yourself with full frontal nudity. You really should to do that at your earliest opportunity, just to get it out of the way.
