Do you leave your Christmas lights up on the outside of your house? Isn't it just a big waste of time tearing them down, then in 11 short months, back they go? I'm not doing it this year, they are staying up. Is this some form of conspiracy the women have trying to see if we will just for the fun of it? Maybe it's part of that whole pharmacy cartel that Todd warned us about. It is just a way to get you to buy Doan's pills and Ben Gay.

What do you think?

I'm leaving them up too. I love how the flashing lights show off the Jack o' lanterns.......

Mine will come down next week. It is easy for me to decide that they go up and down every year because I am not the one on the roof doing it.

I say FIGHT THE POWER!!!!
Let the lights STAY!!!
Or, do like I do, and don't put any up in the first place.
DAMN THE MAN.
But that's just my $.02.

don't put up lights outside, don't need to take them down, besides....very VERY scared of heights....

Same here. The first few years I lived here I had lots of lights outside. Each year I put up a few less. Eventually I was down to a a single reindeer wood cutout with a red lighted nose. I haven't seen that reindeer in a few years now.

Don't put them up, don't have to worry about taking them down.

It's for the Kids!

Seems to me the lights were driven by the children's desire for a visible display of the Christmas spirit and the former spouse's desire to not hear the children's repeated requests for decorations. I think when I'm older it will be motivated by the desire to not have the grandchildren think I'm an old fogey that never gets excited about the things they find exciting.

For everyone without children as the motivating factor. I think they are either really into the spirit of christmas decorations or it is the status competition commonly found in the suburbs. You know, the people who have to keep their lawn immaculate and their cars washed and waxed.

Currently my excuse for no lights is that I'm living in a fixer-upper project that would look even worse with any sort of highlights/accents added to it. But that is just an excuse for not wanting to get the ladder out of the garage and have to move it once for each 4-6 feet of lights. Besides, once I'm up there I'll probably notice the gutters need to be cleaned, the trees trimmed back from touching the roof and the newly installed garden fence really isn't as straight as it appears from the ground.

PS: Very Good Nitelight - I love slightly twisted humor.

I don't think so, you are taking those lights down this weekend, just like you promised. I think you just about lost your mind.

The last time we did lights, we couldn't find an extension cord, and WitchsKat hung them inside. The effect was something like being inside a casino. We decided not to do it again.

Now that our power company is on the brink of bankruptcy, and it is going to cost me a ton of money just to run this computer, lighting displays will be effected by a single candle. It's amazing how much light it casts, when compared to total darkness.

I drove by the old house I used to live in during my wild, halcyon days with a few old friends. It had this huge pinetree in the front yard. One year, during an alcoholic uplift of our courage, we decided to climb to the top and hang Xmas lights. That was three years ago.

There still up there too.

Now, I wonder if the Fire Dept remembers getting us down as well. ;)

that's better...and i want you to rub my feet when your done.
