No, MathGirl, it's not that Question.

It's two other ones:
1. How long does it take for you to complete an avrerage Lit story? From first idea to completed masterpiece, that is. Seeing as I'm about to acrtually try my wings at this, it would be nice to hear what others go through...

2. How long does it take to get this damn Virgin tag off me? I haven't felt like one since grade school. ;)

1) dunno, I haven't written a lit story yet - Although I did write something for The Earl's gloveslap thread, which took me about 3 hours in total.

2) felt like one, or been one? *ducks and runs away from Iceman*

Oh I could tell you, raph. But I won't. (Or I might get to be the one who has to duck and run. She throws stuff sometimes. )

And the good thing is (from my point of view), she can hit you with the stuff she throws, she can't hit me ...

Muah.

It was Wales, right?
*skimming through old posts, I'm sure that's what he wrote...*

Err.. Czechoslovakia, that's where I come from, yes.

Raph, frantically deleting posts.

Dear Lin,
Usually 3 to 5 days. Sometimes up to a week if the traffic is heavy.

According to today's Oprah, you'd now be the only one. The subject was the movie "Thirteen".

100 to get rid of the virgin tag, 1000 to get your own title.

As for how long on a story...as short as a few hours, as long as a year.

So true. The worst story I have posted took three hours. The best almost a year.

I'll bet they were all naively and maturely Chocked and Concerned.

The answer to # 1 is different for every person, and for every story. I've been working on one story for months, but others only take hours.

oh and i know a great way to get rid of your virginity....and no it's not THAT obvious ;)

Pop over to the playground and play all the word games, goofy game, word association,my very own "ask me a question" thread, word express etc etc etc..and your virginity will be gone in no time at all :D

1. Anything from a couple of hours to never. Many of us have hard drives full of part-completed stories that will be finished sometime, maybe, perhaps or may not be. Even when completed the editing and correction, redrafting, thinking "would it work better if..." etc. can delay submission for days, weeks or months.

The first one is the hardest. You are revealing yourself in a public forum and hitting the submit button can be a frightening thing to do. After that it gets easier and you start worrying about your rating, the feedback or lack of it, why your votes and ratings go up and down - see innumerable threads.

2. As for the Virgin tag - enjoy it while you have it. As far as I know you are the first Virgin to be carrying twins. Even the Virgin Mary didn't manage that. So you are UNIQUE.

PS. Welcome to the AH

Seems you have one of those mail issues going, Jenny. You know what I mean. If you mail something across the street the post office loses it for a year; if you send it to Alpha Centauri the answer will be on your desk before you get back from the mailbox.

I think the only reason a bad post takes as long as three hours is that the 'board' is too busy laughing over my last pratfall.

Sometimes the story takes me a few days, sometimes the edits take weeks.

-FF (you call this a story? ha ha ha ha.)
ps. I posted a poem with a typo - fasted post I've had so far. The edit still isn't up.

Going to the second one first, post some on various
threads. The status will change after a while.

On the first question, how long does it take to write a
story? There is a minimum, if I have a maximum, I haven't
found it yet. One night, after I had written a few stories
already, I was sitting at my computer on a night so hot
that the windows were open. Suddenly, a rainstorm hit the
area. I rushed around closing the windows; then, instead
of turning off the computer and unplugging it as any
sane person would, I wrote a story. That story, "Gully
Washer," might well be my best one yet, and this was years
ago. I polished it a bit later, but it was written in a
period of an hour or two while the rain was still falling.
On the other hand:
I've finished stories several years after starting them.
My latest submission to Lit is a story idea that came to
me some year or two ago.

My first thought when I saw this thread was "Gaaah! Not "The Question"!!! Quick! Moderators! Delete this thread before MG sees it!
