The problem is: making that work requires that their candidate for president never open his mouth.

They're in for a bumpy ride. They're nominating a Palin-level time-bomb wrapped up in shiny white central-casting republican skin. Not to mention, the Obamites called his nomination a year ago and have been oppoing him without distraction ever since.

Another element I haven't seen talked about: Four years ago, Obama had to run as a black man. Ignored was the incredibly American subtext of his narrative: born poor, single mom, got into Harvard and Columbia, passed up private salary to work the streets.

Running as President Obama, he does not have to be black this time. He can tell that story, wrap it around his presidential narrative/accomplishments. Against Romney The Rich and Out of Touch, that's particularly salient.
