What is the average wait to get published right now? Just wondering.... submitted one first week of April?
No pushy rush, just wanting to get an idea thanks!
I know, I know, I know.. We're working as hard as we can. The submissions and other email has been pouring in lately, and we are trying as hard as we can to stay afloat. In addition, we are trying to work with the programmers on the scripts - testing them, telling them what we need and don't need, etc - and that takes time. Please believe me when I say we are doing all we can right now, and that this backlog IS temporary. Once we get the new scripts in (and we manually load in all 1700+ stories into the thing, argh..hehe) this will all be a memory..
Dear Laurel - consider keeping something of a backlog going. I've been ever so much more religious about checking/reading new stories since I started waiting for my own to get posted
Wow, are you really going to look out for it? Well just in case, I have three submitted. I think they are: Lessons in Government, Home Sweet Home, and The Sauna.
First two.. erotic couplings, last one, lesbian one.
HOpe you like em if ya read em!
The time lag for my story that was posted on the 12 of May was 31 days. That's within a day or two of the time lag for my first story.
I've noticed that there have been more stories posted each day than was the case a month or so ago. I don't know if that means Laurel is making headway with the backlog, or just paddling harder to stay afloat.
LOL! A little bit of both, actually. The scripts that are gonna save me are still in development, so for now I'm doing what I can to handle the load myself.
To give you an idea of how much time these scripts will save me, let me say that I spend 10 minutes to a half an hour on each story - reading, proofing, prepping for the page (helped along by exporting tips from Harold, thanks guy!), pasting the story into a template, adding the title & author name/link, and adding the story title to the new page, the appropriate category page, and the author's personal page.
We get 15 to 40 story & poetry submissions a day, so you can see how this is takes up a lot of time. Plus, there's other stuff involved in running the site - email, putting out fires, installing new servers, and working on some very exciting projects to be announced later.
With the new scripts in place, all I'll have to do is read the story, edit where necessary, and approve the submission. The script will then add it to all the appropriate pages. It will attach the voting results to the entry so that on its category listing you will be able to see its current voting status, as well as the author of the piece. The scripts will make possible so much that you've all asked for.
I'd tell you more, but I'm really tired right now. The installation of the new server this weekend did not go as planned. We hope to get it up and running within the next few days. For now, I'm running on 4 hours of sleep and I'm kinda demoralized from fighting with the @#$! server.
I want you all to know that we are doing everything we can to get rid of the 500 errors for good and to make Literotica everything you want it to be. It's a bit frustrating, as everything takes money and time, and we don't ever seem to have enough of either. I appreciate all of your support, and I promise you that three months down the road - when the scripts are in place and the site is redesigned - you will all be very happy with what Literotica has to offer.
Thanks, all of you. I'm gonna upload the new stuff and go to bed.
Not to worry Jade. I submitted my latest story on March 23, and my bio for members' page at the end of April, and they're not up yet. So I practice patience (to a small degree) and just keep writing! btw - when Vixen's Savannah does see the light of day, I'll be hosting a cyberparty, champagne, noisemakers, and chocolate (including custom-made Godiva body painting chocolate).
Vixen - I sent you an email, but I guess ou never received it because I never got an answer from you. The file you sent to me came through as named "Vixen%27s%20Savannah" and even after trying various suffixes on it (.txt, .doc, etc.) I could not open it. If you could please resend as either a .txt or .doc file, I would be happy to post it.
I'm behind, but not two months behind!
I'm about 3 weeks behind. If you submitted a story prior to April 25 and you still haven't seen it on the site, you may want to contact me.
Yippee - Thanks Laurel. didn't get the email and was having the "new author" anxiety attacks about "omg, it was terrible, and they're just too polite to tell me." Thanks, will resend tonight. Along with a bottle of cyber chocolate body paint.
