How long is it before chyoo.com logs you out...?

Sometimes my response time has been less than favorable on getting to submitting an addition to a story or something, I am logged out by default. So in turn, I keep seeing the darned login thing, and loose my typing (I'm going to resubmit to one story 'cuz the data wasn't saved... it's okay, though, there's this chance to make it steamier...) which is something I still want to avoid.

I know this wouldn't be an issue if I wasn't so easily distracted, but that's one of the perks of being me. Time around you moves fast, and you go, "Huh? What was that?" It was the sound of time passing me by again, apparently... :(

Ah, well... I'm no stranger to me. Sorry if I seem strange to some/most/all...

No stranger to "oops, lost your thread!"

Hi, cbond --

Your tale of woe is a common occurrence, I fear.

I haven't precisely timed Chyoo's login session timeout, but I'm guessing between 15 and 20 minutes.

The right way to deal with submitting into an expired session, I believe, is to put in an interstitial login page, then (on a successful re-login) let you go ahead with the action you wanted to do. Or in this case at least leave you in the thread creation page with your edited data.

There are various workarounds. I keep 2 browser windows open (sharing cookies and session data), and reload one periodically with "My Home" or suchlike. If I space out and lose the session, I can log on with the "reload" window, then merrily submit my thread in the other.

An alternative...

Weather I'm using Win XP, Mac OS 8/9 or Mac OS X, I'll remember to save it as a .txt file first.

MacOS X: TextEdit
WinXP: NotePad
Mac Classic: Simpletext

Until some sysadmin or something goes around to modifying the prefs for the website, that's the compromise I found myself making...

Sometimes, a willingness to learn is all I can muster... and hope that I remembered what to do...

Any rate, I like making the additions and seeing that they get accepted. Maybe I'm better at this than I thought, pondering a writing career is over my head. Well, no way, Baby! I got plenty of head! ;) :) :D
