How long inbetween?

For those whose Dom/Domme is also their significant other, how long between "sessions" is there for you? For us it is somewhat mood dependent, life happens sometimes, work, etc...sometimes it's kinda spontaneous on a smaller scale but I'm talking about the full blown, all out, several hours spent dedicated to just BDSM, not just sex that incorporates some BDSM "play"

I am the Dom of the couple and we are slowly evolving to a 24/7 life style but as for scenes I would say every few weeks we do a large scene. And I have to agree life and work happen also having a young son that's where most of our time goes.

We are <gasp> getting older, as are the kids. Both aspects have their own issues to contend with. Right now it's been Too Damn Long (IMHO), but I'm hoping that will soon be corrected. Before these nasty things raised their ugly heads, we were having serious scenes every 2-4 weeks, on average.

We don't do planned scenes. Ever. At least I don't know about the planning ahead. He often says that I shouldn't have other plans on this and that time, but that alone doesn't mean there's a scene coming. Most often it means that he wants a backrub, or wants to watch a movie with me, or wants to take me out for dinner, or wants to play boardgames etc. Sometimes, rarely, it means a scene.

The only time I remember us having a planned scene was when I came back home after I had been away traveling for a couple of months. Then he told me three days before my return that stuff's gonna happen, so I should be prepared in this and that manner.

But how often..hmm. A couple of times a month maybe.

How often we scene really, REALLY varies i.e. twice (so far, fingers crossed) this month, and none in the two months previously. At this time of the year when it's so cold, spending the day naked and tied to a door frame is more likely to make me hypothermic than aroused.

Also, a lot of big stuff (other half about to graduate, son starting school, promotions at work for me) has been happening so time and energy is scarce. All things ebb and flow, sex most definitely included!

My girlfriend lives on the other side of the world and it's been two years since we last saw one another, so...

But I'm going to visit next month... just have to make it through this one first.

My husband and i have little scenes a few times a week but our big scenes take a lot of time and energy and planning since we have 3 small children. Usually at least 1 a week. I have a planner that he leaves me daily tasks. Once he feels the scene has been negotiated fully he will tell me what day it will be. Never more than 2 a week for us... Its just too much for me to handle.

The demands of our jobs and kids interrupt ours too...we play at it lower level in bed more frequently but our actual, more "formal" sub times are usually monthly now when we have the time to spend on it to enjoy and not rush to "fit it in"

We try for 1-2 times a week. But we are both happy if we get the 1. We don't really plan them anymore, as our sessions do better as surprises.

We've done a few like those where she has sprung it on me with little or no notice...gives an additional "rush" to the whole thing for sure
