How long does story approval take?

I submitted a story yesterday, and I'm just curious how soon I might expect it to be approved and posted on the site. Does it usually take a couple of days? A week?

A story submitted to the general story file takes three-to-five days (if you don't fiddle with it while it's waiting--if you do, it goes back to the end of the line). If you submit it to one of the periodic contests, it should post the next day. While contests are going on, posting to the general file can take a day or two longer than normal.
