How Long Does it Generally Take to Move Out of "Pending"?

We're getting a lot of these threads lately. Mine's been pending for 7 weeks. There's supposedly a glitch in the system making some story submissions just go down a black hole. From what I'm told (and I'm trying this in the morning myself), if you withdraw the story, then resubmit with a note to Laurel saying you're resubmitting because of wait times, that should help get it out of the black hole.
I appreciate that, but where do you put the note?

In the submission page, there's an area (box) where you put the story. Scroll down from there and there is a smaller box that's marked to put a note to Laurel, an Author's Note. Put it there.

If you're a new writer, you can expect 5 - 8 days, typically. Once you're more established, 2 - 3 days is typical. If you're very lucky, less than 24 hours.
If you've used AI or Grammarly to edit your story, you'll most likely get a rejection in due course. The site also has a set of generic rejection notices for breaches of content policy; poor formatting, especially dialogue; and fundamentally bad grammar.
But a week? You're still in the queue, and other than some screening word bots, I doubt human eyes have seen it yet. Whatever you do, don't touch the story or you'll go back to the end of the queue.
