...to see your story posted on the site? I submitted mine Monday morning and still no sign of it. Is that unusual?

Thanks,

Dixon

Hi Dixon,

It takes about a week for the story to appear if it's been accepted. Sometimes, you will see a date appear even though the status is still "pending".

Just be patient :) (although I know it's hard!)

The Question! The Question!
I think we need to hunt down replies to The Question from youknowwho. In the best interests of the newbies of course. :)

It usually takes me about five days, I've found. A lot depends on length and story content.

I've had it take anywhere from a 5-6 days up to ten. But, I also post my stories as Word files to keep italics and other special formatting. I get the impression that lengthens the wait time.

The answer to 'The Question'?

The sensible answer is:

Just slightly longer than the author thinks reasonable, and then two days more. Twice as long as that if a contest is in progress and the story isn't a contest entry.

The proper answer is:

Depends which way the wind is blowing, whether the cows are lying down or standing up, and how the sheep feel about the state of democracy in Peoria.

And there's me, wrote a 'How-To' on that very aspect!

And for this most recent contest, for me, a mind blowing eleven minutes!

I still think I accidently sold my soul or something. Unheard of!

Thank you, Alex, not just for writing it, but for posting the reminder. Watch my work for bold and italic in future. ;)

I also want to thank you Alex. I didn't know your how to existed and didn't know how to save Laurel, et al. the extra work. I think this one is going in my favorites.

I wish I had read this before I sent my Word doc in last night just because of Italics. Grrr... My blood pressure rises 10 psi with each day I wait so this could be a matter of life and death! Or at least a matter of not annoying people with my whining. Whining like: "These incredibly nice people put up a site that lets me post stories for free and gives me access to thousands of readers at no cost, and yet they make me wait a whole 5 or 6 days to see a story. Whaaah!"
