How long do you have to wait for your story to get past "pending"??

sure they do

I only have one story that has made it through and three waiting.

I think the first one took six days

It depends on how many submissions Lit is receiving. The number of entries keeps going up, and it takes time for our hosts to get through them all.

There are also little nuiances like category, story length and how your story was submitted (upload or cut/paste). Plus, once your story is approved, it won't immediately show up, but rather will be posted when the server gets its daily update.

All in all, it should only take 4-5 days. Patience.

an average at the mo is 5 days. Riga went up today, and I submitted it last sunday, i think! it does depend on categories, how many are waiting, how busy laurel and the gang are etc.
it'll get there, and when it does it's a real buzz! :D

Ok, thanks all. I was wondering if I had done something or written something wrong that was holding it up.

The ladies will just have to suffer a little longer is all!

(counts on fingers...) i think ive been waiting more than 5 days...

I waited over seven - but I changed the title several times during the first few days. It seemed to me like the waiting period is about for or five days after the last time the story was changed.

Just an observation.

Yeah, I forgot to mention: if you visit the 'Make Changes/Edit' page while your story is pending, even if you don't make any changes, you send your story to the back of the waiting list. You basically start the whole process over from scratch, even if it is a minor/superfulous edit.

Kinda a pain, I know, but fair is fair.

Long Lag Time

I have had many fans express their pleasure in my current story, "Betrayed". The readers who really enjoy it have all asked when I will submit my next chapter. The fact is, I did: Chapter Ten (the conclusion of the story) was uplinked one week ago today. To date, there is no indication in the 'view' window that anyone at Literotica has even looked at it.

Did you actually submit it?

You can upload it (via cut & paste) and look at how it likely will turn out when finally posted via the preview screen. A nifty feature, to be sure, but that doesn't mean your story is submitted just yet. You still need to hit the 'Submit' (or similar sounding option) button to send it Laurel and Manu's way. If not, it stays in upload limbo - presumably until L&M attend to thier server maintenance.

You should be able to send it on it's way by checking out Preview and submitting it. Even if it was already submitted, I can't imagine going to the preview page would do much harm if the story has yet to be viewed by anyone/thing.

... that or I'm full of it this morning.

Finally!

The story finally was approved and posted but it took me a while to find it. Must have been a whole backlog of stories waiting.

I've submitted my first freakshow in years (the others currently under my page are old - resubmitted). My last sumbission back in the day (2000) took about a MONTH to hit page LIT. At that point it sort of subdued the motivation.

Back then it used to blow me away that 15 stories would hit per day. It appears to be 30+ these days. For them to reduce time to under a week, at that many submissions a day? That ain't bad, folks.

Just for the record.

I submitted mine a week ago too

And, in the Submissions, View, it shows it is submitted, but I haven't gotten my 2 initial "views" yet.
Maybe they're on vacation or at the beach?

Sometimes stories are posted while it still shows "0" views....mine do, usually. Patience, grasshopper. ;)

Nothing Under the Tree.

Exactly. I've waited ten days so far, checking in a half dozen times a day, and now I feel like the kid they forgot at Christmas. I wonder what I did wrong. I didn't even get a lump of coal.

I submitted a story on the 21st of July that posted on the 1st of August
I submitted two chapters to a story on July 26th that still haven't posted.

There's a big slow down right now. I guess we just have to be patient and work on other things while we wait.

So, how many days have you people waited

for the posting from the day you submitted it? It looks like 10 or 11 days might be the normal for now?
My story has been submitted and "pending" for 9 days now and no views yet.
I had the same or similar problem with my first story, one year ago today, as luck would have it. Laurel replied that no one elso was having problems and if it is shown as "Pending" that it was in the queue and I should wait. See attached and the note from last year:

From Laurel,
Hi there,

Could you give me a specific story that is behaving as you suggest? The submissions appear to be coming in as normal on our end. If you could give me more information, I could check on this and let you know if the story made it to the queue. Generally, so long as your story is marked PENDING, it is in the queue, regardless of the view count. If it's listed as IN PREVIEW, then it has not been submitted and you will need to hit SUBMIT again. Anyhow, send me the name or names of stories for me to check and I'll take a look.

Several people and threads have said that the story submission button is not working. I agree.
If we submit a story and it shows on our control page, but there are NO views after several days, can we assume that you do not know it is there?
Another 2 users at least, had to resubmit their stories and get put at the end of the queue again before anyone at Literotica saw it.
I have a story sitting there with no wiews for 3 or 4 days and I don't wan't to have to re-submit it!
Would you look into this problem, please?
Thanks.

So, should we wait patiently or resubmit? How long should we wait for a pending story with no views? Should I not write in the summer?

My last story, a couple of weeks ago, was up in five or six days. But I do know of some that have been in the queue longer than seven as of today.

It may just be really busy. Maybe there has been a glut of stories due to the proximity of Mars.

OK, This is weird

I didn't check yesterday, but tonight:
It is still not released, according to my control panel and the fact that it is not on the new stories listings, but I have one view and 3 VOTES!!!!

The votes were good, so I'm not complaining, but, ????? Hmmm??

If memory serves...

The server tallies votes and views seperately, and thus updates them on different schedules. Votes are added as they are voted on (Your vote score should reflect this). Views are not, and are updated as a lump sum when the next round of stories hits the list. Occassionally, people drop in wondering how they can have more votes than views when their story first appears on Lit. It's for this reason.

My guess: Your story -is- posted, but hasn't been registered by all the parts that run Lit. Hence why you have votes, but few views, and that it isn't even considered posted on your CP.

Kudos though on your story being posted. You can check it out here .

Thanks for the clarification, FE

I found it on the new stories list last night and the voting and views seem to be normal now. (Only the votes aren't as good as those first 3 :D -tough category?)
Only strange thing left is my control panel shows one submission and I have two, but that will probably catch up some day so I'm not worried about it.

So, it took about 11 days, for those interested in the time line at the moment.
Thanks, LIT.
