It's only the third day of May and one story already has 84 votes for the month. Is this a little suspicious or is it just me?

Also, how long does it take for a story to be approved?

No one gets it

The number of votes always seems odd at the start of the month, but if you watch the total votes for stories they don't seem out of line. I think the system is counting votes wrong for the monthly votes. Maybe not though maybe someone takes the time and effort to vote 84 times for a story. It takes me about 5 minutes per vote so I don't see how anyone has that patience, but who knows. The current voting system is so screwed up it does not really seem worth the effort, or concern about it.

Stories get approved in their own good time anywhere from two days to three weeks. There is no schedule I have ever been able to discern.

The best idea is just keep writing and don't worry about the site, how it is run, or where you stand in the ratings.

:D

LoL yea...I usually judge how well my stories are taken by whether or not they are approved...though I do enjoy seeing how many times the story has been visited hehe

My theory.

I believe the votes are totalled by month. And I think the current votes for May are also the votes from May last year. I think every month does this. As most of the stories that have a lot of votes at the start of the month are older stories that have been around a long time. That's my thoughts.

I think you are right

I think you are correct that the stories with a lot of votes include two years worth. The story that Goldfinger deleted when he took off last year is showing up as number 10 on the list. The votes must be from last year.

Check the date when you log on!

I found a quick and easy way to know if your story has been looked at yet.

When you come to the logon page for CHYOO, there is a date in the upper left corner.

It's usually not today's date... it's the date the site was last updated.

Check the date when you submitted the story, and the next time the date stamp has changed, chances are your story has been reviewed (approved).

The sporadic nature of the updates is the reason that it seems as if some only take a few days, and others take weeks. If the updates are done every two weeks, and you submitted the night before the update, your story is approved the next day. If you submitted the day after the update, it may take up to two or three weeks for the story to be approved!

Hopefully this clears up any confusion!
