How graphic are you in your stories?

Just wondering if your sex scenes are graphic or more hinting to what it's happening.

Does it depend on the plot? The category? The mood you're in when writing?

Don't forget that time of month...

Truth be known, I'm a lot slutier when my period approaches, but don't quote me on that. As for how indepth I go when it comes to the actual sex scene in an erotic story it most depends on the characters involved at the moment, and not anything I have going on at any given time. I know the characters stem from the well of my creativity, but they do seem to take on a life all their own once I put them on paper, or screen.

Depends on the story really. If it is suppose to be hot and heavy and really focus in on the sex, then detail can enhance that. But sometimes leaving a little to the readers imagination works better. All depends on the story really.

Also depends on the audience you get as a writer. I've found that my stories rate a little higher when they are very detailed in the sex stakes. So I assume that those people who like reading my stuff enjoy that aspect. If the reader doesn't then they'll probably give the story a miss ....

Delayed satisfaction

Graphic sex is rare in my stories and buried in pages of verbal interaction.

My latest is so un-graphic that the reader has to invent the sex. It is there, but is only implied, not explicit. Beat that if you can.

I don't recommend trying to emulate implicit sex. Current rating for "Bagged at the Opera" is well under 3 and dropping. Feedback is good though.

Welll.......

Depends entirely on the rationality of the story I suppose if I'm writing to tell a story then the sex is generally light, if I'm writing to get folks hot and bothered well then the sex is heavy

For the most part, yes, my sex scenes are pretty graphic. It does depend on my mood and the plot. Since I'm usually always horny when I write, the sex in the stories tends to be quite graphic.

I can go pretty graphic, but whatever the level of description, I try to go after graphic-cum-emotion, cum-thinking, cum-atmosphere, even cum-poetic or -aesthetic. Ahh, lovely Latin...

Graphic without some literary device is clinical. Even what pedants might view only as 'stroke' can be exciting for the Wit of it.

In a sense writing erotica can be like fucking when due attention and the sensuality and intimacy of the act are given or paid (spent) to it. I daresay it's what can distinguish standards or levels of personal satisfaction through cyber-sex.

The graphic quotient (cock x cunt / penetration [for straight]) is proportional to the lead-in or anticipation factor (A*)

If we divide R (romance) by S (synonym) we arrive at Gd (graphic determinance)

These are the yardsticks I use. But then, I haven't written a story without graphic depiction, so fk. (Fuck knows)

Ha! Thanks for a good morning grin, Gauche. That's the kind of science that does it for me. I keep my yardsticks under my pillow, where do you keep yours?, I ask rhetorically of course.

To gauchecritic only...

Thanks for the feedback you darling man. And yes I did get a lot of feedback like your post script. Even had an offer from a guy down in Alabama to be my slave and clean up any mess, and he went into detail about how well his last mistress trained him as a toilet slave before moving to Africa with a younger slave. LOL

Thanks again

Dear DS,
Do you suppose they posed for this picture?

Ps, Ewwwwwwww

I think my sex scenes are always pretty graphic, i go into alot of detail and put alot of myself into the sex scenes. All my stories have pretty substantial sexual content...It is what I love to write!

Depends on the plot and content mainly, but I do tend to get a bit graphic at times, hehe!! well it's what the pervs who read this stuff want isn't it.

Always very graphic. I don't know how to do it any other way. Besides, that's what people like isn't it?

It mostly depends on the mood. If the characters are really getting into it, then the detail level goes way up, because the details are what gets the reader churning, and ideally the reader should be as aroused and into-it as the characters. If my guys are doing that whole emotional thing, on the other hand, then the descriptions turn dreamy and metaphorical. (Except no paintbrushes. ;) )

Bravo hope to be able to work up to that.

I use graphic sex only in short stints otherwise the story ends up reading like a laundy list. When I find a story that goes on and on about the details of sex I usually click back anyway. Like oggbashen I also set the scene and use dialouge to imply sexual tension and actions as well but I still use the short "stints" of graphic sex as well. My first story posted The Bich ch1 had almost no actual sex in it but it recived one of the best ratings (among my stories)

No, really; what I said--it's just like the definition of obscenity. It depends on who's reading the stuff. I remember, as a kid, I'd be trying to describe something I'd seen--not anything to do with sex, mind you--and from someone, ususally, my mother, I'd get, "You don't need to be so graphic!" I've come to the conclusion that if you don't learn to tune shit like that out, a writer is off to a slow start, developmentally.

It depends on the story. Sometimes, I'm very graphic, describes exactly what people do with these or those body parts. Other times, I try to write a bit more poetic, with beautiful prose, and then it's more euphemisms, more words like "fulfill" and "climax".

Well, I've only written one story so far. I was looking to make it more romantic with a "hint" of sex instead of being "in your face" about it.

I won't go as far as to say "this is my style", though. It just seemed to fit the mood of the story. (IE: The title is Nothing Else Matters: Ode to James. This is also the title to a very powerful song, in my opinion, so romance seemed inevitable.)

I've fallen in love with your name. (But then I've been drinking and would never post something like this ordinarily)

I'm a hopeless, or is that Helpless, romantic.

I like to build the story as a story and work the tension up a bit between the characters. Then, when I add the sexuality into the story, it's more than hinting, but less than all out fuck fest.

Let me take that last part back. The way I word my scenes is more erotic than all out sex. I keep the actual graphic wording down to a dull roar and exchange some words around so they're not as harsh and hard hitting.

I'm sorry if I'm rambling. I'm not doing too good right now. It's either Allergies or I'm comming down with a serious head cold.

Sorry,

My style is to start out slow, and when the sex scenes arrive, they're graphic and explicit. But I certainly like reading other combinations by other authors. The incredible variety of works on Lit is what makes this place uniquely interesting.
