Sparky's motorcycle thread has left me wondering, what's the fastest you've ever gone on the ground? What vehicle were you in? Were you the driver or a passenger?

So fess up, adrenaline junkies, speed freaks, and law-abiding citizens alike. Post your best mph or kph, whatever the case may be, just be sure to specify please.

180 mph, Hyabusa, passenger
150 mph, 86 Grand National, passenger
135 mph, 96 Impala, driver

Oh, I almost forgot, track times don't count.

Hi kittie eyes...my Dad had one of the first grand prix that were made...he took us out and was going 120 with the needle bouncing...also did over 100 on a motorcycle once...that was scary but yet thrilling

145 MPH- MAZDA RX7-DRIVER

Just keeping up with the flow of traffic on 285.

Man! Speaking of which....

Remember those rocket cars - the drag ones, not the Bonnieville Salt Flat types? Like the Green Monster. And what about those fools on turbine/rocket powered go-carts? I even saw a turbine/rocket powered ATV perform at a monster truck thing once. I saw film of the Green Monster (which had some shit like a Redstone rocket engine in it) melt and blow hot asphalt on a racing crowd once. And what ever happened to Double A fuelies? Has all this stuff been banned for safety reasons?

Too fucking fast

186 mph (or so the speedo said) on a 94 FZR1000-driver

150 mph in a Mustang GT-passenger

60+mph on a Norco Mountain Bike-driver

25+mph in a shopping cart-passenger (I was too drunk to drive)

95 in my little Toyota when I was 16 on 285 trying to make it home before curfew.

10.7 in a 69 Camaro (driver) :p

Well sorry, but I had at least 1,000 more pounds in my vehicle, and only a 318 engine. Not shabby I think for a truck,it ate the local Camaro's and Mustangs for breakfast,a Corvette barley got away. http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net3/krakrani2.gif

New Corvettes are turning much better than a 13.0, Mustangs suck anyway.

Tell me, what size bottle are you running?

My uncle has a modified 350 Chevy light truck. It is just barely street legal, but from the outside it looks like a stock pick-up with an old man in it. He likes to pull up next to Camaros, and blow their fucking doors off.

I only rode with him once in this thing, we shot up to 135 MPH instantly. I couldn't lean forward, all I could do was scream with laughter.

He's legally blind, by the way.

Well I edited the post earlier KE,it was a '89 'vette, the only one I ran,the newest vehicle was a '94 Camaro. No bottle on there either. I smoked everything in the 1/8 th mile.I traded it in on the Dakota in '95,I am still kicking myself for that,I miss my power. :(

135MPH on a BMx Bicycle being pulled behind a '69 Pontiac Firebird 450 Positrac before the rope snapped.

That musta been a nitrous powered towtruck pulling it!

Bob....you snapped long before the rope did:D....that bike woulda come apart...very few car tires can handle that speed

I knew I loved you for a reason. ;)

And all along...

...I thought it was for my...er...um...ah...hmmm..Mind! Yeah that's it...that's the ticket.

Bob I don't mean to cast aspersions on your tale..but When I am going down the highway at 60 or so and another truck passes me, the buffet(turbulence)is enough to move my 80,000 Lb. truck around...I can't imagine 135 on a bicycle behind another vehicle...very unstable at even low speeds (the rider weighs more than the vehicle making the combination top heavy) High center of gravity+very little contact patch(tires on pavement)+extreme wind resistance=bad road rash...very bad...

Were you wearing a helmet?

That may explain some things hehehe;)

I was wearing full football gear And I believe for the most part after 30 I was being dragged along the ground more than being upright on the bicycle. but I just go on second hand report cause I recall nothing after the violent first hit of the back of my head to the pavement it was at at 135 that they heard the rope snap back and hit the rear window. The bike was found near were we began. I remember nothing cept waking up in the hospital.

Sounds like fun...

Me... I am speed demon... Clocked at 198km... on a yamaha 1499cc... XR... Then at 205.. in a brand new Jag. XR(I think thats what the 2000 models are can't remember now). Now thats a rush... Don't try that at home..

(I also been clocked at 165mph.. from 30,000 feet... falling that is...)

For the non-metric crowd, that's roughly 135-145 mph.

It was on the ground speeds, silly.

Sorry... I alos forgot... that mostly everyone here is still in the standard age(hehe)

*Dragging his feet along*

So......

What do ya do for excitement out there Bob...

Skydive into the Million Man March wearing a white sheet?

Walk into a bar full of Hell's Angels and call'em pussies?

Turn your back on Deborah in the shower?

Wait a minute...you are a daredevil...you like to go toe to toe with Lasher;)

You are very lucky dude.
