When you find someone's social media profile, whether it be a beautiful co-worker, former flame, or an old crush...

How far do you go? Just look at the pictures? Try to make contact? Fantasize?

Nowhere, b/c I've been happily off social media since 2010, with the unfortunate exception of LinkedIn, which remains suspended/hibernated unless I'm actively looking for a job. :sneaky:

Best decision I ever made. It did not hurt me in the dating department, despite everyone saying it would. "They'll think you're hiding something!" Nope. Most didn't ask. The few that did didn't seem to care. 🤷‍♂️

Best quote I ever read on the subject, "The seduction of social media is feeling like your voice itself has intrinsic power. It doesn't. This is not a public discourse. You are a tourist entering into an algorithmic game run by hustlers, on a street policed by the illiterate, under a regime paid by taxing attention."

I'm not on any social media except Lit if this site counts.

If someone on Lit peeks my curiosity, I will read their profile as it may aid in forming replies but thats as far as I go. There is one woman from my life I do occasionally look up. Not to spy or dig through her profile, but out of curiosity to what direction her life went.

The only other time I have pried into social media was to confirm the rumour relating to the untimly death of a young woman I knew.

If I happened to “find” a social media account for someone I’m attracted to or I know, I might take a peek at their pictures but that’s all.

Never reached out, that’s sketchy as hell.

I'm with the post above, it seems a bit over the top to reach out. One I don't want my s/o to find out and two unless you have been really good friends with them in the past it just gives off a bad vibe.
