When I look on the submission page, my latest story has 2695 views; if I go to the story, and page down to the end, it says 2,606, Why the huge discrepancy?

The difference is the different time delays in posting updates. Your submission page provides the instantaneous updating. No other listing does.

And don't bother asking what constitutes a "view." I don't think any user has the truth of that.

There are different metrics all over the site. The only listings that even come close to real time accuracy are those found on the submissions page. Those update within minutes. Elsewhere, updates of the same metrics are anywhere from hours to a full day apart.

Didn't Laurel just post recently in a thread here, that a view constitutes anyone clicking on the story page and that makes a view. You don't have to go to the last page for it to count apparently.

She did post that, but there are other types of views as well such as web crawlers and something about google that I never really understood, but they come from more than just readers here.
