How does a volunteer editor edit a draft

I have just become an editor and somebody asked me to edit their draft. How should I go about this? Ask his password, log in to his draft, or what do I do?

fgs don’t ask for their password.

If they can’t figure out how to send you a copy, it… makes me wonder about them.

Get a word file sent to your email address or to a drop box.

Volunteer editing is a private arrangement between you and the writer. The last thing anyone should do is have their only copy on the Lit submission page. That's just silly.
