How do you submit stories for contests?

I went on the contest discussion board but it's all polls and no real information on how to submit stories for the monthly contests.

Basically, when you submit a story it is automatically entered into the monthly contests so long as you've got voting turned on. If you turn voting off at any time, the story gets disqualified for the monthly contests (because in the past people tried to 'lock in' good scores).

So get writing and submitting!

Incidentally, the monthly contests aren't generally decided until several months after you first submit the story. I think--although I'm not positive--that the site owners Laurel and Manu then go back to look at the actual voting for that month.
