How do you start a poll?

Did you actually look for the option when you posted this thread? It should be an option at the bottom if I remember correctly, and then you basically follow the instructions. It'll take you to a new page. If it's not a "how to..." question, don't post it here.

when you create a new thread, look beneath the message box. immediately below is a box that lists smileys you can add to your thread and those will appear next to the thread title. continue scrolling down slowly.

there are 4 slender boxes below it, labeled (in order): miscellaneous options, attach files, thread subscription and post a poll. this last one is what you want.

check the box labeled "yes, post a poll" and tell it how many options you want as responses. the software defaults to 4 but it can go up to 10 on this forum.

you hit the [submit new thread] button and it brings up a new page in which you can add your various poll options.

it's a good idea to know precisely what your poll options are going to be before but if you aren't sure, you can always adjust it on that page. it's really pretty straightforward.

one last thing: i've recently learned that poll options where you can see who voted for what (the "make this poll public") option do not generate as many responses on this site. :>
