I wax chatty, sometimes, about the genesis of the story, so they have more information about it. It's fan mail. No big issue.

I think the most rewarding response to a story is wanting to chat further about the story itself--its themes/origins. And I'll always respond to that when received in an e-mail.

However, the part of responding to public comments appended directly to the story from named posters -- I think that you can just get bogged down into so much "so scratch my back too" convoluted "stuff" that this is probably why I rarely sign my own public comments on the stories of others. (Which is not to say I'll slap on negative, unsigned public comment on a story--because I don't/won't--and think this is cowardly).

I always respond to e-mail where I can, thanking them for reading the story and for their feedback. I've made a few e-mail friends that way. I've been lucky; I really haven't had any negative PCs or e-mails to speak of; must be doing something wrong...

How, oh HOW, can I get people to hate me???

Most of the feedback I've gotten has been positive, and I try to reply to every one of them. Hey, if it gets them hot, it means the story worked. Some of the feedbacks I've gotten have been from people who read Quid Pro Quo, not one of my most popular stories, but it has a character who probably had an autism spectrum disorder, although nobody knew back then, and they were deeply touched by it because they identified with him.

The Ice Cream Cone refers to a short film called The Ice Cream Cone, and one reader actually tried to find the movie. I was flattered by that--if I could make it seem that real. After all, generations of Lovecraft readers have wondered if The Necronomicon existed. I had one friend in Mississippi who swore she saw a copy in a secret room in Alcorn State.

You get an email or pm. It's saying how much they loved a story and it made them cum or made them so wet....
Do you replay and, if you do, what do you say?

I always send a reply - and I almost have a standard one.
I tell the reader that I'm glad (s)he enjoyed my story, because that's what motivates me to write in the first place. And then of course I encourage them to read some more of my stories and include the URLs for my Lit and my StoriesOnline pages.

Brand new newbie here... just gettng my feet wet. But:

If someone told me that my story made them hard/wet/cum/horny, I'd say "Mission Accomplished!" That's why I read erotic stories, and that's the spirit in which I wrote mine. I will direct them to my other stories, and, if they are also writers, go looking for theirs.

I've submitted exactly one story here so far, got a nice review that said it was HOT. I wasn't trying for "subtle", "intricate", or "spellbinding"; what I was shooting for was, HOT.
