I've seen other authors do it, putting links to other Lit stories, or to their editor's profile.

thanks in advance

Merry Christmas everyone

A link is done by typing it directly into the text of the story.

Special thanks to <a href="http://www.literotica.com/SomeUsersProfile">Some User</a> for editing!

Unless you tell Laurel in a note in the notes box, any story with a hyperlink, genuine or not, is likely to be rejected.

I don't think that hyperlinks internal to Lit. will be stripped out, will they? And I think you just cut and paste the URL into what you are posting.

I'm honestly not sure if simply pasting the URL will work. I never tried it, because I preferred to control the anchor text, rather than having a raw URL there.

It just depends upon if the text processor automatically generates the anchor tags upon encountering a URL. Considering most links aren't allowed, it doesn't make much sense to have it do that. If it doesn't generate them, Laurel would have to insert the tags if you don't do it yourself.

All around, it's best to add the anchor tags yourself. You get to control the appearance of the link, ensure that it comes out as a link rather than plain text, and that Laurel doesn't have to do any extra formatting work on your submission.

And, yes, Ogg is right that you should mention even an allowed Literotica link in the moderator notes section to prevent a speed-reading rejection.

Anyone actually have a problem with this? You can tell at a glance it's a Literotica story URL. I think folks overdo these defensive notes.

No, it's not an overreaction. I've had an HTML rejection in the past for a couple of html special characters near the beginning of the story. It was immediately approved when resubmitted unchanged with a note.

Laurel buzzes through things fast, and she's not taking much time to question her initial impression when she comes across something. Ding, rejected, on to the next one. It's the only way she can get through everything, I'm sure.

If she has a note, she knows it's there, and she cruises right past that 'ding."

You can tell at a glance, yes, but if you ask nicely, Laurel will make it a true hypertext link where the url is hidden.

Having had one story bounced because I referred to a Tumblr blog where there wasn't a link, and then had a collaboratively written story where the publishing author wanted a link to the other author's story page, it was a common sense thing and a courtesy to the site editor to explain what we were doing. It wasn't a defensive note, it was a note for the editor, to alert her to the existence of a hyperlink. What else do you think the Notes for the Editor box is for?

Yes. I've had a rejection for it. That's why I mentioned the note.

As long as the link was to a literotica page, I've not had a story rejected for having a hyperlink and I haven't put a note warning about the link. My hyperlink is always in the Author Notes at the end of the story. Hyperlinks to a site besides literotica were immediately rejected.

9 times out of 10, they go through without a hitch, with or without a moderator note.

It's that 10th one that bites you in the ass.

Not a huge deal to re-up it if it's just some regular story. Perhaps more of an issue if it's part of a series you've been posting on a regular, predictable schedule. That kind of a gap can cause the natives to grow quite restless.

You're going to have to add that note to the resubmission when it gets mistakenly rejected, which does happen often enough for it to be relevant, so why not take care of it in advance?
