did this little white box with the red cross in the middle come up?

In the thread - yes. In fact, some appeared in the thread and later disappeared.

Some sites don't allow you to link their pic. Thats why you get the little red X

Some sites don't allow image hosting, like angelfire, and others have programs to detect bandwith stealing and block it off. Those programs may take a second to kick in which is why the pic might show up for a second or two.

Nope - that's not it. Some of the pics were from my own webspace.

Interesting, so some pics worked and some didn't. Were all the pics from the same place or were some from your webspace and some from others?

If the webserver is particularly slow, Miles, the browser might have "given up" trying to retrieve the image so as to speed up browsing. Then you get the red X, too. If it doesn't do that, you'd have a problem that used to occur where an entire page wouldn't display because a little 3K picture in the corner was on a slow server.

It may be that some pics are too large for the site... Try resizing and post again...

As far as I'm aware, there are no size restrictions when linking to a picture - that's a restriction only of attached files and AVs, since those are hosted on Lit's servers.

ROAR.

Whoa, thats just creepy looking.

Well what can i say? I have a strange shocking sense of humor?

If you upload pics to the lit server from your computer then they will show up as a link - not directly visible in the thread. Lit did this to make pages load faster and to save server resources so that only the people who want to are actually accessing the database.

However, if you link to a picture on another web site then it will show up on the page. This is not a drain on Lit servers when its done this way.

As mentioned above, some sites block the ability for you to link to their pictures. Its a copyright protection kind of thing - hence the reasons you will sometimes get the "X" - and sometimes even a message basically saying "naughty, naughty - you can't do this."

They were linked to my own filthy, porn-ridden, web space. They should have shown up.
