How do you get rid of rope burn?

My Dom and I played a little rougher than we intended to today, and I have lovely cherry red rope burns around both wrists to prove it. While ordinarily, I would look upon these as pleasant reminders of our play, in my profession, there is NO way I can go to work with these. Short of wearing a long sleeve shirt, something I don't want to do in 90 degrees and 73 dew point, or calling in sick for 2 or 3 days (neither is really a viable option) is there any way at all to get them to fade a little faster?

Cirrus, did you manage to mask the marks at all?

I read the thread cym linked to (and sorry Risia, I had a slight chuckle whilst I was there), and was going to mention make up before reading it. You can get a green foundation specifically formulated to hide very high colour on faces, which might have worked.

Or perhaps there is a special cream for burns ... I know that the chemist here sold me one once (years ago, and can't remember what it was called) when I 'burnt' my hands when weather proofing a garden fence.

Not a lot of help there - sorry.

Went to the doctor this morning.
Discreetly asked him about bruising/rope burns (a form of bruise)
He reccomended massaging in a caspicum cream such as Zostrix. He said it's sold for arthritis but it really doesn't work for arthritis. It does however work on bruising.
I used it on a bruised vein once. It did work.

Hope my $.02 helps
Something to try.

I was forced to go the long sleeve shirt route. People asked about it, but I passed it off as "coming down with something" and a case of the chills. I'm not embarrassed of my sexual preferences, but I just don't want to deal with the comments I know I'd get from my co-workers. It's my life, ya know? I don't want to have to defend it like I'm doing something wrong.

I did ice the marks right when I got home, which seemed to keep them from getting redder, but didn't work to minimize them that much.

One of the best additions we have found to the first-aid box for just such problems, as well as allergic reactions and rashes, open wounds, insect bites, is Lucas' Pawpaw Ointment. It is an Australian natural product (only chemical is a preservative), and I am unsure if available overseas but can be ordered online (http://www.pharmacyonline.com.au/atoz.asp?PageNum=5&letter=P ).

It is thick, works within a short time, and goes a long way though if buying I would recommend buying the larger container as it is one of those things which does not deteriorate quickly, and you find you are always reaching for it once you discover it's benefits. The other good thing is it is very economical given the amount you need to use.

If you're trying to conceal a bruise or other mark, the color plays an important part in which concealer to use.

Most of these tricks will work well with fair to dark beige skin.

For red marks, use a green concealer. Pat the concealer (use a non-sparkly eyeshadow if you can't find a green concealer) onto the marks until they look a neutral gray. Then cover the gray with a flesh colored concealer which closest matches your own skin tone. Set with a loose powder brushed gently over the top layer.

For blue colored bruises, use yellow concealer. Use the same technique as described above.

For yellow bruising, use a lavendar concealer and use the same technique.

For darker skin tones, use a concealer that is slightly lighter colored than your own skin tone.

The trick here is to pat on the concealer to ensure full coverage.

Don't know any instant remedy for the burns, but Lemon Juice has some effect in reducing bruises and love-bites / hickies.

I hope this helps.
