How do you feel about authors pretending?

Yes. putting up a profile which is not them at all... not one little bit.

How would you feel if you really got off to a story, wanked yourself all over the author... and then sent this peson an email saying how horny they made you and they replied that they were not at all the person you imagined... like, ze opposite sex?

You would be peeved, wouldn't you?

I have a male and female persona on Literotica. The female receives the most male... eh.. mail, btw.

I get off if I think it is a woman writing.... but, as I know, I pretend to be a woman writer at times so there must be lots of other men doing it too.

What a drag!

Hey, no... i don't get off on the male fan-mail as I am very womansex orientated but it turns me on trying to get under a slut's skin and at the same time getting deeper into what turns a man on.

What was the question, again?

I've thought of doing...

what you say you do, and chose not too. Could do it well too I think, but would somehow detract from my authenticity in the long run.

I have four stories "e-published" on the site under Xanaduvian which is gender non-specific. I'm sure at one time my profile listed me as male, but somehow that designation has been deleted (I attempted to rectify that the other night).

I've had several letters from people who thought I was female, though, due to my writing style. I guess I'm flattered; many of the men authors seem to be of the "shuck 'em and fuck 'em" style, so I suppose it's a compliment, but it is still an odd feeling to be assumed to be female.

If what you say is true, though, perhaps I should leave things as they are. I enjoy the positive feedback! Hah!

As a writer, I feel it's important to express yourself and be able to take on new challenges. I mean, come on, books would be pretty boring if every single character was either a guy or a girl, depending on which sex the author was, wouldn't it?
A writer needs to know how to get into the "skin," as it's been metaphored here before, of the opposite sex. I think it's a good idea to try and role play as a female for one thread, or write a story in a woman's point of view. Maybe you'll find something you haven't before, perhaps you'll even grow a greater understand for the opposite sex.
It's not easy, believe me, but it's always good to try.
I mean, honestly, what have you got to lose?
Well, pride, dignity, oh... your status as a hetrosexual male...
Hmmm, perhaps that wasn't the best question to answer.
Anyway, have fun. And don't knock it till you've tried it.

Well, the question was not about the ability to write from the point of view of the opposite gender, but to pass oneself off as an AUTHOR of the opposite gender, as George Sand, the famous author and mistress of Chopin (among others), did.

I don't think I'd have any problems or qualms about writing from a female's perspective, although I usually use the perspective of omniscient narrator, by choice.

Does it matter???

Does it really matter if the story that you read was written by a woman or a man? If it invoked a feeling out of you (whether it be erotic or not), then I'd say the author was successful. It doesn't invalidate what it made you feel.

The gender of the author really doesn't matter to me. Their writings don't threaten my masculinity in any way whether they be from a masculine or feminine background. The author's gender, or even better yet, their orientation doesn't affect their writing effectiveness (would a gay man be a worse writer than a straight man or vice versa?).

Good solid writing is non gender specific!

What's there to get peeved about? It's not like we're asking for directions for do-it-yourself brain surgery from a chimp here!

I am a woman, says it on my profile,so that if you read my stories or poems you know that. However,if I choose to write from the male point of view, and I do plan on doing that soon,I will use my lovetoread persona, only because I am proud of my work.

I see no reason to say that I am male if I am not. However, any feedback is welcome. Male, female, alien it matters not. Got turned on? Great, that is the whole purpose of my writing it. My only complaint about writing and feedback is there is so little of it. If you read, vote and send feedback, the writer will never know if you liked or not if you dont send any.
