How do you Dom/mes use your voice?

I was thinking back to the start of my Dom life earlier today. I've picked up quite a few vocal tricks along the way. I Had the problem of a cracking voice (kinda like that teenager on the simpsons) at first whenever I would get excited and try to yell at somone. Oddly enough it was my training in classical singing techniques that elimanted that problem.

I'm writing this thread to see if there are any vocal tricks that you dom/mes or subs are proud of. If anyone wants advice maybe this would be the right place too.

I haven't met a woman yet who doesn't melt when she hears your inner Barry White up close, down sweet and low in her ear.

Whispering in a low register.

If nothing else...it could always land you a late night radio call in show.

Cheers;
Lance

I really do try to breathe deeply and fully when I'm aroused, because somewhere I read that's more effective than the instinctive shallow breathing, especially when you're on the brink of orgasm. Apparently makes it more powerful. However, the things that arouse me usually reduce me to a hyperventilating ball of whimpers. Not exactly what I intended but then again I haven't gotten any complaints on it. o)

I am usually very aware of my own voice, even if I don't have the presence of mind to alter it. This is one of the cases where I actually think my writing has helped me in daily life; I pay attention to background feedback, like the different levels of dynamics, timbre, pitch, intensity, and so on in my voice. I analyze this by how much it arouses ME. Then I (hopefully accurately) apply that knowledge to how effective it is on my partner. Like I said, this is taking up a small corner of my immediate mind because my attention is usually focused on my partner. However, when I have time to relax and reflect, I can think back on the mental notes I took.

So what works for me? That depends largely on the mood of our play. I usually don't get a chance to use my voice to its full alto potential, because like I said I usually get all squeaky. I do, however, have a nice assortment of squeaks! o) I suppose I play more with the dynamics than the pitch, then, and the quality. I'm usually husky when speaking, but I go breathy in an instant. Hoarse I don't have much control over--usually a side-effect of the past few hours of shrieking.

And then, of course, there is my reaction to my partner's voice, but that's a whole nother "reply to topic," and more than I'm capable of tonight.

I would hardly call myself a Dom, but...

The Doms I've known in the past have found great success in speaking rather quietly and calmly to me in the middle of intense scening. The more calm he is, the more acutely I feel my own loss of power.

This statement just gave me a delicious flashback!

I do enjoy that. I also enjoy when he actually uses the silence, letting it only be uncomfortable (and then maddening) to me. That's control.

Then again, I also enjoy when "quiet" and "calm" are the last two words I'd use to describe his voice! When there is that edge of "I'm about to fuckin lose it," I almost do.
