How Do You DO an AV??

I just passed 100 posts and want an av but I don't know how to do it. If it was here telling how I didn't see it. I want to know if you have to use your own pic or how do you get one that is not you? If someone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Find a picture you want and resize it. If you send me a pict to my email or on icq I can resize it to whatever you want. I can even decorated it using paint shop. Are you male or female?

Those links above are four threads turned up by a search on thread subjects in this forum with the word "avatar" in them. There are many more threads about avatars, but only those four with the word in the subject.

The search button is your friend, -- most of the time. It is working at the moment although it often hasn't been recently.

Sorry to muscle in on your thread Wildone - but I'm in the same boat - sort of. I've finally found an av - but I can't save it as a jpg file! Is it possible to resave it?

If this is possible - could somebody either show me how to do it, or perhaps PM me and I will forward on the attachment?

Any help gratefully received!

Sorry to muscle in on your thread Wildone - but I'm in the same boat - sort of. I've finally found an av - but I can't save it as a jpg file! Is it possible to resave it?

In most photo editing programs, you need to click on the FILE menu and click on "SAVE AS" to change the file type -- most can do JPG or GIF formats. Some programs require that you"EXPORT" the image to a JPG or GIF format -- usually a choice on the file menu, sometimes on the IMAGE menu.

If you have Quickview set to open image files when you click on them, you need to go to your start menu and find an image editing program -- most windows 98 or later users have MS Photo Editor which works fine for changing file types and most resizing jobs. Open the photo editor, and use the "Open file" function to open the picture.

Thank you so much Harold - unfortunately, I've tried to resave it, however - the only options available to me - are all `bitmap'... So I've obviously really screwed something up along the way...bugger!

Perhaps I didn't download it properly in the first place...maybe I'll just post a picture of my cat as my av...it seems easier!

What program are you opening the image with?

If you're saving a picture from the web (or a camera), you may need to save it as BMP first, then open it with MS Photo Editor or some other image editor to convert it to JPG.

If all else fails, send it to me and I'll convert it for you.

Check your help menu for "converting formats," "Exporting images," or "save as."

I downloaded as a BMP instead of a JPG, but otherwise it should work. It's already small enough.
