How do I write a femdom character?

I'm writing a story that has a place for a dominant woman, only I don't want her to be whips and chains dominant. It's a role where two women she cares about are doing the same guy. This character and one of the others know about the third, the third has a bad temper and thinks she's the only one. This character has family ties and some authority over the man. She takes control of the situation and gets a little for herself.
How do I pull this off without making her look like a dominatrix?
I've never personally been with a dominant woman.

In writing, there is an old adage that you should "show, don't tell." In other words, it is usually more effective to create a scene that demonstrates a person's character rather than simply describing it.

So, as an example, you might create a scene where she goes to lunch with a male friend, and when they approach the front door of the restaurant, she stops and waits. She expects him to open the door for her. He takes the hint and does so. Once inside, she tells him she'll have the chicken salad and an unsweet tea. "And tell them to make sure the chicken is cooked through," she adds. She turns, walks to a table, and sits down, leaving him to get her food. When he arrives at the table with their meals and sits down, she says something like, "Be a sweetie, and get me some Splenda."

You need a scene that shows "attitude" and her in control.

I also like this sort of character. Femdom but without the silly chains and dungeons.
My only posted story, London Pride, has two girls like this.
One way is just to use their sexuality to exercise control: "Oh, so you'd like ... would you? Well, we'll see about that. I need you to ... and ... for me. Then if you do a good job of that I might ..."
Another way is blackmail: "You have been a naughty boy, haven't you? What would your wife say if she found out you had been sending that sort of message to other women? I hope for your sake that nobody tells her..."
