How Do I Withdraw a Submission?

I have a story that I just submitted for approval and would like to pull it before it hits the boards. Not that I don't like it; I would just prefer to handle the storyline in a different way.

So maybe I'm just not looking in the right place, but I see no means by which I can keep a story from being approved.

Can anybody help me with this?

Don't know for sure, but I'd e-mail Laurel. *shrugs*

I know people who've done it, but don't know the exact proceedure (although PMing Laurel was involved). If you don't have an solid answer by tonight, I'll ask them.

Thanks, S-Des. I was going to wait until early tomorrow morning before PMing Laurel, just in case somebody came up with something.

Remind me to never submit something when I've been drinking . . . .

That's s good question. I would also like to know the answer, for future reference. Could you post the answer when you get it slyc?

I sure will. I've got a feeling withdrawal includes intervention by Laurel and Manu. I've heard that authors can submit an editted version of a story that already has been posted, simply by using the same title and including 'edit' in the comments window.

But stopping a submission from being posted might be trickier. I wonder if it would preclude an edit from being submitted at all.

Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Well, I have gone ahead and PMed Laurel about this. Hopefully, she will find the time to get back to me soon.

I'll keep you all posted.

I know it can be done, I was involved in it once. As soon as I talk to my friend, I'll let you know. It's probably just PMing them.

Okay, problem solved. Apparently, all you have to do is PM Laurel (and ask nicely), and she'll reject your submission, allowing you to make changes and resubmit.

Pretty simple. Thanks, Laurel!

If I had my druthers--and I don't know if this can be done--I'd love it if you could edit the story all the way until the last minute (i.e., over those days where you're waiting for approval). But then I'm horroribly nit-picky about stories and even as I press that submit button I'll think..."uh-oh! I forgot the change this!"

And I'd also love to have a "withdraw" button as well, so I could remove an accidentally submitted but incomplete story from submissions (I have accidently hit the submit button before I was finished going over it). I wonder if that could be done--"withdraw" and "edit" buttons that would appear during the wait period. Once they got to it, both "edit" and "withdraw" buttons would vanish, of course. But why not let us futz with the stories while we're waiting?

Of course, if I really had my druthers, you'd be able to edit in situ like here on the forum, rather than having to re-submit edited stories.

You should be warned. There is a substantial penalty for early withdrawl. :D

Hey, I only pull out when I'm worried about an unwanted outcome. ;)
