But how do I go about having one of my stories removed?

Both the Author's Hangout and Editor's Forum have threads about this and how to revise a story.

The answer is that you resubmit the story just as you did originally with the same title plus "REMOVE" or "DELETE" appended. In the body of the story, and the comments field just put "Please delete this story" -- a reason why you want it removed in the comments field (to provide an appropriate degree of urgency to the request) is advisble, but not required.

Use the same procedure with the word EDIT or REVISED appended to the subject and the (complete) corrected story in the body of the story and a summary of changes and corections in the comment field to change a story without losing your vote totals.
