Hello all you wonderful Volunteer Editors. I have a question that is bothering me.

How do I find the "right" volunteer editor?

I have read the submission guidelines and KillerMuffin's excellent article on etiquette. I have lurked in the author's hangout and in the story feedback forum until the tops of my feet are beginning to grow mushrooms, but I still am not sure how to go about selecting the best editor for me.

So perhaps you can be of help.

My story is a fantasy story about an elven maiden who has been proposed to. Without going into all the gory details or rewriting the story here, it contains some incest and group sex elements as well as fantasy.

Is there an editor who would be willing to give up his/her time to help me out by editing my story?

If so please email me at LivingUnicorn@surfy.net

and thank you very much in advance.

P.S.
In case I hit the worlds greatest jackpot and more than one of you responds to this, I shall simply pick one and reply to all that respond.

Thanks
LU

I've found that picking a dozen or so volunteer editors and sending them a request for editing will get you about a half dozen people who have the time to take your story on.

Let ALL of those who have time edit your story! Getting as many viewpoints on your story as you can will help more than depending on just one editor.

I've found that each editor finds something different in my stories. Where multiple editors agree on a fault with your story, you can be sure that's something that needs fixing. Where they disagree, you have the benefit of more than one opinion about how to revise your story.

If in the process, you find one editor that fits your style -- that's great. However, the multiple viewpoints approach finds more mistakes than depending on one person, especially for that all important final proofreading for typos.
