how do i delete my account?

I've had a lot of fun on here, but now I want off...

I can't swear to the fact, but I don't think it's possible to completely delete an account. However, you can delete your stories if you have any, and you can delete all your posts to the forums. In the latter case, just go to each one, hit the edit option. and then delete what you posted. Before long, you'll reduce your "footprint" on Lit to nothing more than an inactive user name.

If I'm wrong and it is possible to delete an account completely, I'm certain somebody will show up with the info as soon as the traffic picks up around here.

The only way to delete the account itself is to PM Laurel and ask her to do so. You can find her posts in the stickeys at the top of the thread list them pm her and put delete my account in the title of the PM.

However, one needs to have a damn good reason to request such a thing, such as continuing to have an account here is a real threat to their personal safety, livelihood, custody of their children, etc. 'I had fun and want off now' is NOT a good enough reason to bug Laurel or Manu with a PM asking for the account to be modified/deleted - particularly when that member has very few posts (the OP has 12, FFS) and could easily "delete" themselves by editing posts, their profile, logging out, clearing any Lit cookies, and never coming back.

There are tons of people who simply change their minds about being here for superficial reasons and could effectively delete their own accounts through editing and not coming back. If even a portion of those people requested admin intervention, Laurel and Manu wouldn't have enough time to deal with legitimate issues and requests, which would really suck.

, this is something you need to handle yourself by editing whatever you might want to edit, changing the settings in your User CP if need be, logging out, clearing your cookies and not coming back. The whole thing should take you under 10 minutes, which is a hell of a lot faster than going any other route!
